Thread regarding AT&T Inc. layoffs

What AT&T is not telling you.

Everything is to be automated what's left will be outsourced. It always starts with the managers them moves to CSR's. They raise your stats put on the pressure to make you quit or get fired, it's standard practice. Once the numbers are low enough to avoid the WARN then they close the center, they do it this way to avoid the National spot light. So if your center has been reduced to CSR'S only and everything else was took away then your days are numbered.

@HnxeysP-1cqq at&t may be preparing to send your group work/calls from surplussed dtv groups. As soon as surplussed groups are notified the calls/work will immediately shift to another group (i.e., your group perhaps). When I was notified of surplus I immediately was told to stop all current work, they transferred all work to in my case the outsourcing company and my only mission was to try and find another job within AT&T for the last 60 days. I applied for over 50 jobs and was never contacted for an interview. Left the company and am working for another company. Better pay, benefits and work environment. AT&T is toxic.

AT&T mgmt is still in a dream world - DTV ain't going anywhere. They all need to be surplused themselves.

I am in mobility western regional consumer side. The calls have been slow and they're still hiring and expecting pre-contract results. The hiring doesn't justify the volume. We are supposed to be getting promo calls for DTV but they're not coming in.

No call center in the US is safe. CWA dont care about you, they just want the money that AT&T pays them to bend you over and show you what getting the shaft is all about. Rumor as of now is CSR layoffs are coming in July, but remember its a rumor till announced. But will centers close? Absolutely.

Why would they train a CSR to do a job they are going to send overseas? They would not. Your center will suffer the high call volume till they decide to close it and they will at some point. We have seen this before and we will see it again. Now we people on here that think this is just blowing smoke, well its not. Scrooge Randall S. Himself said he is going to reduce work force to 100,000 well your not going to get there by just letting level 1 - 4's go. If your center has been reduced to CSR's and there are a few that have been and your getting eTime everyday then the writing is on the wall.

i find people being anal retentive about spelling, punctuation and formatting a little bit annoying, and as a linguistics major i get mildly offended when people call those things "grammar." it doesn't make you smarter, and it certainly doesnt make you "better" at speaking english than another native speaker who is more lax in their formatting, the Previous comment, So, let's hear it. Do you sacrifice a little grammar in OP messages?, maybe ignoring an apostrophe or period? Do you go all out and write barely readable streams of conscious? , do you painstakingly punctuate and check for perfect grammar? Or rather take a valid view and concern for the forum?, if you can't provide feedback to OP's point of view, kindly do not report anything

"Your grammer is horrible. I would take a writing class if i were you. And unless you are a manager, a director , or someone that closes centers, I would keep my mouth closed, because all it seems like your doing is trying to scare people."

If you're going to knock someone for poor grammar, at least know the difference between "your" and "you're"....and spell "grammar" correctly.

How are some call centers slammed with call after call, while some are so slow they are allowing reps to leave early? Some customers wait 30mins to a hour just to be transferred for the 4th time to get to someone that is not trained and then waiting for a call back that is taking 4-6 weeks??? Mind boggling!! Why don't they use the centers that are slow to push calls their way? Wait.. That makes too much sense. Mgmt will say they are not trained ---well train them! or I like this comment.

"We're not routing calls" pfft

I work for at&t in the west region and we are working without a contract right now. They are only offering us a 10 cent raise over 5 yrs, while increasing the workload put on us. They just bought Direct TV for billions and still made billions in profit. Greed is at the top of their agenda. Strike could be coming.

Our center has been reduced to only CSR's for about a year, and we are in the EG. With this current management surplus, the only members of management in our building that weren't included in the calls were the 2nd line's, and a handful of them that report to different groups that can all telecommute to do their jobs.

When you look at the posted jobs, you can see that DTV is going to have most of their calls handled overseeas. You can also see that most of the consumer call centers appear to be hiring. Once they have those CSR's trained, they can start eliminating the business call centers, which is where I work.

When you add in the fact that almost daily they allow a LOT of us to leave because of low call volume, most us can read the writing on the wall.

Mobility does NOT have job offers in case of surplus included in their contracts, only severance pay. Landline, yes, but not Mobility. Last year, there was a surplus of 41 people in my organization for bargained jobs spread over several states. We were given the 60 days notice, and then surplused.

He's right. Stephenson says so in every one of those 5 minutes with the Chairman videos. First contact with the customer is going to be automated - web or an app. Second contact may be chat. Talking to a human is the last resort. It's too expensive, even if they move ALL the call centers off shore. (Which they are working on. If you don't see that, you are covering your eyes.)

Misery likes company huh? Most of these CSRs you talk about have job offer gurantees in their union contracts in case of surplus. They are not easily gone as fast as you say...

Been with the company long time, only toxic managers are produced thanks to the culture the leadership promotes
