Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Non union dude not on EWA here. Wish this crap would end

The final plan is already drawn out on both sides and has been for months. Just do it already, whatever it is

OK, makes sense. I can see how that would be risky to your job. Another Avenue would be to have your union reps spend some of that fund on public awareness. Direct mailers, newspaper and Internet ads.

The problem we as a nation face is a controlled media that is paid for by corporate giants. Or in this case, owned by.

A well written article and a couple months worth of bombarding citizens so with ads would lay a path for change.

We are smart people, if we don't stop fighting and being the puppets on the stage then we are going to wake up very very soon and find it too late.

This dog eat dog mentality is exactly what the leaders on both sides want. It's the ONLY way they can get what they want and "win". Even if it means we all lose.

@yrn..all good ideas, but...if you spoke to a customer about those issues and they reported it to management you would face discipline that could include dismissal. That's reality.

Anybody who actually believes that their personal commitment to the cause, from either side, is making a difference hasn't doesn't enough time pondering the state of corruption in all levels of corporation and government.

Power fosters an atmosphere of greed and is those who helped them rise to power that ultimately pay.

For the company side, they're head long into a campaign of moving every available job offshore. Cutting jobs for 100's of thousands of Americans which costs them customers. This move fuels other companies to so the same thing which in turn loses more jobs, and again more customers for vzw.

There is little wonder why smaller cell companies such as T-mobile are causing us problems. People are now so afraid of losing their income overnight and pay has been stalled for so long that they simply won't pay for a Cadillac when they can afford a Yugo.

On the union side, you have the biggest opportunity of all of us to effect change but have gone about it all wrong.

Nothing can fire up Americans better than a grassroots effort. You stand toe to toe with customers every single day in their homes. Where they are most comfortable and open to listening.

It would be more effective to ask each of them on each visit to call the executives and demand jobs stabilize and return to the states.

They certainly wouldn't care about the customer sentiment but would care when enough people decided to switch services to support the USA.

Tap into the American spirit here. Fight smart. Go back to work and make changes one customer at a time.

Agreed! Get the strike over with, do the RIFs, and then those who are still here on both sides can get back to serving our customers. Enough with the pissing match, just sit down and talk.

The only thing they're doing now is trying to build the perception on both sides that they're fighting hard for their cause. Get the workers desperate enough they will thank them for an agreement and see it as a win.

Quit rimming it and stick it in already. Both sides are going to take it in the shorts anyway
