I said from the start that I would work all the way through, no days off. At the end of the first week I thought I was going to die. At the end of the 2nd I seriously considered quitting. But this morning, I got up, showered, came in, and feel like this is the new norm. The job is tiring, but much less stressful than my BAU work. I know that this will end in a few months. Once the "temps" are all in place and up to speed. Until then, just another 12 hour day.

"Once you reach $188500 YTD collection of SS stops."
I see one too many 8's in there!
Good point. Once you reach $188500 YTD collection of SS stops.
Right there with you OP. I wake up and work, and then do it again the next day, every day. Don't even think about the strike any more. Another few paychecks and Soc Sec taxes can kiss my arse goodbye.
some of you guys don't get it. These are not our jobs. This is a stop gap.
Sounds like the shower is wearing out again
I wish the union workers would demand action from their leadership. They are a month or 2 away from losing their jobs permanently. And that will unfortunate for their families.
Wow. I'm impressed. Get back to me when you do 60 14 hr days of line work after a major storm. Done that on 4 different occasions. That's work, what you are doing is not.
It's like one of those country club prisons. There is a choice but working here is not in the equation.
What ever soap you used in that shower .....you better buy stock in that company
Glad you showered today...
The overtime makes it worth it. I'm paying off debt while the union people are suffering.
Sounds like a prison movie
I agree this is starting to be the norm. knowing this is not my real job takes the pressure off. I know this is temp. until the contractors come in. I know they are setting up some work location outside the union terriority for the contractors. I understand we will move there for the switch over.
From technical perspective this not very difficult and crossed over to easy after a couple weeks. Been staying on top of my BAU gig as well. Also been able to stay in contact with family throughout the day.
The horn tooters are least of our concerns. We all have a little chuckle at their shennigans when we get inside.
The money is nice as well and everyone still seem in good spirit. Feel a little bad they might have to sit in a chair filled with scab farts.
@bje- you are right.... even though the days are long, filling in for the union is almost like a mini vacation. I enjoy my bau job, but it sure is stressful.
"worked" good one.
Yep - you get used to it. And bonus: all that overtime!!
