VZW doesn't care who the LEC is. If you look at a VZW coverage map it covers the entire US. VZT is only the LEC for their backhaul in the mid-atlantic and NE. They just as soon offload VZT and work on wireless only. After the new contract be ready to become Frontier or Centurylink or some other Telco (non-wireless company). Then everything will be just fine.

Yes, vz is already running dark fiber to cell towers to bypass equipment in the Co's and are using time warner for the pipe and some sites. They wont need landline in the next few years.
