Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Over the course of a four-day visit to the Philippines this week, four representatives of CWA who are on strike discovered that the extent to which Verizon is offshoring work is far beyond what has previously been reported and what the company publicly has claimed.

Verizon is offshoring customer service calls to numerous call centers in the Philippines, where workers are paid just $1.78 an hour and forced to work overtime without compensation.

Terrified that the public might find out about what has happened to the good middle-class jobs the company has shipped overseas, Verizon sent private armed security forces after peaceful CWA representatives and called in a SWAT team armed with automatic weapons.

Another worthless post, when are you corporate fools going to learn what you think or say is meaningless.

Corporations are not relevant anymore, just a symbol of greed and wage enslavement.

You people are f---ing morons!!!! It's not the actual $18 million number that is greedy it's the amount more, 242x more, that is the problem. NOBODY and I mean NOBODY is worth 242x more than anyone else. Just because the board of directors, who by the way are stacked with the ceo's neighbor 1% people, doesn't mean he is worth it. Btw he has free healthcare. Why? He makes $18 million a year! He can't pay at least as much as you or me? You people are just too stupid to realize that the system is rigged. The biggest contradiction you guys always say is "other ceo's make it so it's no big deal" Well 39000 people on strike make what we make and get the benefits, so by the same logic you use to justify McAdams salary, you justify ours. 1.5 billion a month profit and you want give backs? Socialists are out in force. They want high pay but also equal pay. Guess what? If you got what you wanted you'd be making a lot less.

If the union is irrelevant than why so many posts here on this site and elsewhere - every anti-Union post here proves the growing insecurity that yes it is indeed relevant.

If Lowell did his job for free, 18 million divid 40,000 Union employees and each member only has $450 more a year, $37.5 a month. Seriously union folks?!

I don’t understand the “CEO makes too much” gripe. I want the best person running the company I utilize to feed, house, and clothe my family. the best person will ensure the profitability and longevity of the company. The more profitable the company, the less likely we will endure cuts, and the more likely we will have jobs to feed, house, and clothe my family.

A corporations number one priority it to make profit. How is "further consolidating market power" a bad thing? The union is acting as if they should get revenue sharing like pro athletes do. Stop acting like Verizon is giving you sh--. You have a great compensation plan or else you all wouldn't have been here for 30 years.

And Lowell makes 24 million because he is managing a multi billion dollar company. The BOD is the ones voting his salary. They give it to him because the company's profits are increasing.

Why is everyone so concerned about what Lowell makes? I mean, $18-24 million is a lot of money, don't get me wrong, but there are a TON of other CEO's who make a WHOLE LOT more than he does and I don't hear people bitching about that... Examples; Microsoft; $67 million, Oracle $87 million, Sprint $47 million, Time Warner $35 million (these figurers are actually a few years old so you can be sure they make more now!) I just don't get why it's so terrible that the CEO of a large company like Verizon would make $18 million +?

Lowell is underpaid compared to our competitors. AT&T CEO made 24 million in 2014, Sprints new CEO made 22 million in 2014, and they paid their former CEO 11 million to hit the road. So your point is our CEO should make less because our company is superior?
