Sick of the same Union BS on this site. There is no reason that this has gone on this long. No bargaining happening and people are in the streets going broke! Dumbest strike yet! What is it over? Sick of the union talking points. Company addressed and conceded on all issues union doing nothing. People losing money every day.

When u say we want to keep what u have you are going to lose at bargaining
The Union is out because of corporate greed. We are not looking for anything beyond what we have right now.
We already conceded more than we should have in 2011 to help the company and our customers out.
"Striking over qars and gps wrong"
Not when one has witnessed the company abuse them time and time again.
Striking over qars and gps wrong
Striking over outsourcing ok
WINNING!!! Hilarious and saddening true at the same time.
"and there are a bunch of people who would happily take you checks and Cadillac healthcare plans?"
Only that's not what VZ will be offering them...not by a long stretch.
1zug ,there are a bunch of people who would take CEO pay and their golden parachutes and lifetime healthcare and corporate plane .
You are all smoking something. Wake up to 2016 and go back to your middle class jobs. By the way, did anyone tell you that you have great pay checks....and there are a bunch of people who would happily take you checks and Cadillac healthcare plans?
Ok, sounds good then. Union members are OK with moving on, EWAers are OK with big pay for now followed by a RIF down the road and will find other employment using certifications that VZ paid for, union Bosses get to save face and continue to get paid, corporate whores get to protect the bottom line, get golden parachutes, and protect the value of shares via dividend and mid-term compamy savings, shareholders see short term strife paying off in the medium term once union is replaced by contractors, contractors get back in an industry that let them go over the last few years due to technology changes knowing it's just temporary, VZ can then sell off wireline piecemeal since there's no union attachments. WINNING!!!
"You'll gladly lose $30k in wages and not return to the job after the strike? "
I've been overdue a very long vacation for years, possibly a decade and I'm ready to sit this strike out to at least for the length of 1989, maybe even 1971.
By that time we'll know what's what.
If the union screws up and accepts anything close to what was presented to us as LBF, I'm putting in my papers on day # 2 and not coming back until the exit interview.
There are many of us who were dying to go out on strike due to the treatment we got from the company over the past couple of years, and who won't be coming back to status quo for any extended period of time.
You'll gladly lose $30k in wages and not return to the job after the strike? Wow, that must be some good union Kool Aid they're serving.
@HmnSIOY , what did the company address and concede?
"Its more like 6K in loss wages."
It doesn't matter whether it's 3K or 6K. We've been through so much forced OT over the past couple of years that even five times the amount lost won't break the majority which has been smart enough to start putting the money aside right after the past contract.
I'll gladly lose $30K and come back to a job that I can retire from in six years. Or not come back at all. Prepared for that option as well and have been for a while. And if you think that I'm the only one, think again and very hard.
Coming back to what the company's proposal amounts to is the worst possible option for anyone who had actually paid attention to what's been going on around them over the past couple of years.
It's $1,000 weekly after taxes douches. It's around $75,000 annual with no OT, Sunday or shift diff. You wouldn't know about taxes because you either avoid them due to your 1% status or you live overseas where taxation isn't collected correctly. This is top associate pay with no OT. True, a pittance compared to the 1% trolls on this site, but again, my job is top associate pay in the company. Since anyone intelligent will base their monthly bills divided by our 4 monthly checks, any month with 5 checks is a free shopping trip for us.
@HmnSIOY-1ytz You only made $1000 a week before strike?! Even call center employees make much more money than you.
Congrats you're able to do math, but a 1000 a week - 52k a year. You smoking weed? - Its more like 6K in loss wages.
@idhi you think thats good money? Lol
LOL that one of your checks "doesn't count".
So let me get this straight -- the fifth paycheck in April didn't happen?
"Truth is union members have lost on average 6000 dollars so far".
Hardly. Just more company trolling. Tomorrow will be our 4th missed check. There were 5 paychecks in April instead of 4, so 1 of those was a freebie & doesn't count. So if you count that we won't get paid next week, still a total of 4 missed. Average check we will say is $1,000 weekly minus the $300 from union equals $700 x 4: $2,800 lost. Remember, we always make good money, unlike management, we are good.
"Concessions: Not moving people unless they volunteer, "
BS. Please show me where it says anything like that in the company's proposal.
" Job security language stays,"
Nope, not with their intent on gutting Article 8. Next.
"Why is this still going on? "
See above. And all the other stuff that has been discussed ad nauseam on this very site.
"Why no mediation? "
It didn't work well for the union side the last time around. Fool me once...
" All issues were resolved and yet still out"
Whatever it is that you're on I want no part of. What issues exactly were resolved?
"So u have to go to nj to pa to work
Or nj to nyc
At least you be getting paid still"
That's not the point and I'm sure you know it.
Move 150 techs from PA to NY while you're declaring surplus in NY. Rinse, repeat, reverse a few times. Boom. No union within the life of the contract.
Company had zero problem moving people around in cases of real emergencies, such as Katrina and Sandy and there is already language in place that covers such occasions. The new "movement of work" language is meant to enable layoffs and mass abuse all over the map.
"Truth is union members have lost on average 6000 dollars so far".

As people become desperate you will see more posts like this ,the union truly isn't helping we didn't need this to turn into a fight to the death just a reasonable contract the union has decided to make this a class struggle ,I am union and I would like this done asap
If you don't like the union resign. You one person out of 40,000 that has a problem with the strike. Thousands disagree with you.
So u have to go to nj to pa to work
Or nj to nyc
At least you be getting paid still
Both sides are posturing. They just need to end it, period. Its ridiculous for all involved.
Money doesn't give me back lost time with family. Stupid productivity contests just irking me as an ewa. Local leadership is worthless. Its just a job, a means to an end, and will have many more jobs before my time is up in this life.
Just gotta end this stupid $hit and then make it to severance season.
Truth is union members have lost on average 6000 dollars so far. For what? All issues were resolved and yet still out
Where does it say that? You are brain washed. No one is getting laid off job security language intact. No moving calls over seas. Think for your self. Why are you out on strike?
Lowell has jobs, just have to go to New Delhi and Manila. Problem solved.
Concessions: Not moving people unless they volunteer, Job security language stays, upped the raise, lump sum staying.
Why is this still going on? Why no mediation? Why is the union out? You can speak all you want about the company but they are negotiating.
Go back to your moms basement and play grand theft auto
He must mean "conceited" !
"Company addressed and conceded on all issues union doing nothing. "
Wait what? How has the company conceded?
