Why is this? Afraid membership will pressure you to accept the offer? Only reason to conceal it would be if it were good enough for most in the rank and file to accept, but not enough opportunity for a kickback to union leadership.

Then there's O'Doyle (watch link below if you don't get the reference), the one guy here that walks around, fists in the air, grunting about topics he doesn't understand and bullying people to support a viewpoint he can't explain.
To suggest that we should not be allowed to see the offer, but rather trust those that are controlling our lives, is one of the most powerless, uninformed positions I've ever heard. The only reason NOT to is for fear the members will support it. Put it out there and let the membership decide, or we all go the way of O'Doyle in the end - off a cliff.

So what. It isn't 1935 anymore, in this digital world we should have every scrap of info available to us, and each individual should be able to judge the contract offer on its merits, not relying on what the company or the leadership says. Information changes a sheep into a shepherd. Neither side wants more shepherds, they want bleating dumb sheep that go the direction they are pointed.

Half your garage crossed and all 4 of them told you whatever. If your garage only has 8 people total then it's probably because of you guys we are still out. We are fighting for jobs and it seems that the 8 people in your garage are insignificant to the company. My garage has 180 people in it and no one crossed. Don't worry, we will fight for you while you run back and collect off of our sacrifices like a coward. Everyone has families and other financial responsibility. Stand up and fight for yourself.
In VA half my garage is back to work already. Those guys are saying that they work under the old contract and they say that they will be still considered collectively bargained employees and will be automatically covered by whatever new deal comes about even though they've resigned from the union. In the meantime they are getting paid, and without dues being owed anymore. Seems to good to be true but have heard it from all four guys that crossed.

These people should've planned accordingly and would have had little to worry about.
Whoever didn't see this one coming has chosen not to look in the first place.
So one is either ready and willing to see this fight through, or they're not.
There's nothing high or low about either position.
If you're not ready and willing to be out for months and come back to a job worth having, just do everyone a favor and cross now. Make everyone's life easier. Seriously.
This strike is not going to be over in a week or two, you can bet on that.

Has the Union leadership made the entire contract proposal (all 55 pages) available to membership? Whoever wants to read the fine print should have that opportunity. Let them vote on it then.
Jobs will be long gone by then. Hope there's a plan B after yard signs and burning through savings for an unwinnable fight.

Union officials were elected by the membership. Something that doesn't happen in North Korea.
If they screw this one up, they'll be voted out. It's really that simple.
As absurd as it may seem, they are the ones who stand to lose the most if something goes haywire. That's why they need to make the vast majority of the striking members happy, and this joke of a proposal is simply not going to do it.
Anyone who hasn't prepared for a long strike must have had their blinders on.
Because I'm sure people will read all 55 pages - the letter outlines the major points of the proposal. That's what people want to know. Let everyone decide if it's nonsense instead of controlling information like the North Korea government. Union leadership is playing everybody. Keep sipping the Kool Aid on the unemployment line.

Tell that to VZ which has only mailed 5 pages out of 55 that were on the bargaining table. Next.

Oh they will. Once VZ's offer starts resembling anything of a decent proposal. The lesson was learned with the previous contract and there's absolutely no need for union leadership to put this nonsense up for a vote.
If you're desperate and/or like the offer, simply cross. Done deal.
