I'm not the OP, but there is a Reuters article out there from today stating: The number of Americans filing for unemployment benefits rose last week to a more than one-year high, but economists blamed striking telecommunications workers for the surge and said the data did not signal a deterioration in the overall labor market.

So the analysts are blaming the strike for whatever reason and they would be the misinformed or misinforming.

One will find that the 20K spike in unemployment filings nationally in most recent report can be traced DIRECTLY to spring break for schools in new York, which under rule allows school bus drivers etc to file for unemployment for that 1 or 2 week period - the NUMBERS from new york equated to 15k of the 20 k ..... another poorly informed poster at work here .... stupidity just keeps showing itself on these boards

I had to look. It is an actual story out there. I am at a loss to explain how the numbers would have come in yet. I thought there was always a delay. No mention of the Verizon layoff in December, just the strike.

Most of the strikers are not unemployment yet.

Seems to me, you could not even file for unemployment yet.

OP is nothing but a union lying troll.

"Your no economist"

You're. You are. Contraction.

Used properly in a sentence:

You're not capable of writing at a fifth grade level.

Exactly. Going in for a handout after walking off job is an insult to people that actually lost their jobs and truly need unemployment. This should be great for public perception.

Can you really call it being jobless when you willingly walk off the job. Isn't it more like unpaid vacay with the slim possibility of coming back to work with zero change from the time you walked off the job.
