Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Another day.... another windfall

About to head out on the road - beautiful day - regular exercise. I'm doing Copper I&M. Aside from sorting out sloppy work in the cross boxes, it's pretty straight forward. Clearing about 8 trouble tickets per day.

Customers are pleased and mobile picketing has stopped - too much work for picketers who really lack any grit (that's why they need a union).

Loooving the money. I'm over the hump and we're now in a groove with the work. I have no idea why the union picked the best time of year for weather to do this strike. It's awesome and now that we're comfortable with the work, some bad weather won't be a problem.

My husband is on EWA and did 5 tickets yesterday and 6 the day before. He is averaging 4-6 per day despite ave 30-45 mins travel time between tickets. So far, he hasn't had any do-overs from any of the tickets. While he is frustrated at being away from home, and the fact that the records maintained are often wrong, causing tickets to take longer than they should, he doesn't think maintaining DSL is rocket science.....And when VZ deploys 5G, assuming they haven't sold off everything but the backhaul network by then, that problem will go away anyway. If I was on strike, I would be very worried right now.

@ fel, "Copper I&M, really, what does the I in I&M mean? Dope" The "I" means installation - and there are none anymore.

Do you all think that it takes rocket science to do what you do? You are riffing on the scabs because they are f---ing up. Just like you did when you first started. Now give them a month and Verizon will lock you guys out because your jobs are not that special. Tell your leadership to negotiate, get a deal in place, before it's too late. Verizon will lock you out. Once they have enough contractors trained and out of the screw up period everyone in this industry goes thru, they will lock you out. Wake up or enjoy your unemployment checks.

My wife works in a call center. Trouble loads are very high right now and have been for the past week. Outrageous amounts of repeats! Fix it right the first time! Come on scabs you need to do better!

Wow. Sorting out sloppy work and 8 completes a day. Impressive. Post again when you wake up, and let us know how it's really going. In my location they sent out 25 trucks and got 1 fios install done yesterday. The 2nd liner is screaming at all EWAS (including higher ups) to do more and it's total chaos. The higher ups have vowed to get him when this all settles down. That's reality, 8 completes a day is not.
