Not that it matters for the overall contract negotiations, but it is fairly amazing that the liberal media is not at all nationally covering the largest by number strike since the last CWA VZ strike in 2011. You would think that if it were nationally trending at all there would at least be mention in the national media. Based on media coverage and stock price it seems as if CWA/IBEW are standing alone now that the primaries have moved on after trying to use the strike as a political tool. The WI union issues got front page and 1st story news on national media for a couple weeks while it was going on, but that was cops, firefighters, and teachers. CWA needs full involvement from those groups in order to get any outside help, otherwise they're dead going against a corporation dead set against them.

It's not national news because it impacts a small part of Verizon's operation, and then only a little bit. The unions position isn't that sympathetic either. The claim that they are fighting for the middle class rings hollow to anyone who works for a living.
People back home didn't even know there was a strike - 4 weeks into it. And I'm talking about people living in the national market of Dallas! Nobody cares.

I live in Dallas and if I didn't work for Verizon I'd have no idea a strike was going on.
The few people who have heard VZ is having a strike seem to just think it's par for the course with unionized companies. People don't view unions as providing good work, they view them as going on strike all the time -- strikes are the only thing unions are known for.
Not amazing. The NY Times published the average total comp& benefits figure of $130k annually. That is in the top 15% of all individual earners in the nation. Statistically, that is upper class, not middle class. And Verizon is offering pay raises on top of that. Fact that union is striking over job security, whether reasonable or not, is too subtle for many middle class or working class people to understand/sympathize with, especially given that most working individuals are not union and thus do not expect or at least do not have any job security, and given further that unioners get a 401k AND a pension. The Strike may or may not be reasonable, but fact that these particular strikers are not getting support beyond themselves and other unioners is not amazing.
Why is there no press coverage? Because nothing (legal) "out of the box" has been done. That's why. Remember the "mock" funeral in 2011? Tons of coverage on the nightly news stations. After what happened today in Queens there would be a "Sea of Red" outside of City Hall tomorrow demanding answers.
I'm in the mid-west, and I can promise you that the Verizon strike hasn't even made the news one time yet. No picketing in front of any wireless store or the local Verizon offices. Cell phone service works just fine, and that all people care about. Outside of the New York area, this is such a non-issue.

A relative asked me about the delay in getting Fios installed. They had rescheduled it twice. Third time it was installed with no issues. All through this she had no idea there was even a strike. Nothing on the local news, no visible strikers that I've seen since the first week.

Not only nationwide but even in the VZ footprint in the Northeast, people don't know about it. I'm on EWA in a call center and am constantly amazed that customers calling in from Philly, NJ, NY, etc. are completely unaware that there is an ongoing work stoppage.

True enough. Pretty much the only people that care at all or those on strike, or those assigned to an EWA. The other 99.9999% of the universe could care less.
You could try destroying and sabotaging equipment causing outages like the union did just a while ago. That always gets the media’s attention and gets your point across. Another added benefit is that it increases the public support for archaic unions from centuries past.
