I've heard the Union makes life miserable for actual union members who cross the line. How so? After a strike is over, do they just harass them at work if they work with one or ignore them?

1ubx...lol. Not only am I nyc....crossed in 89, but I know many in ny that also did. In fact one went on to be a chief for almost 15 years before retiring, so stop replying on topics you know nothing about.

I don't know since I work in NY and have never met anyone who has crossed. Guess that ground is not fertile enough for scabs around here.
If you are an EWA, you must not be in the field. Those of us in the field are being held to the same standards as the techs. It is not an easy day. It actually boarders on harassment. Nothing is good enough for the company. Every single job is different and the company does acknowledged that simple fact. Unrealistic production numbers, unrealistic reports objectives, over bearing performance monitoring and local management that is unqualified to lead team members. I can't believe I am reporting to a 2nd liner who isn't qualified to shine my shoes, but somehow demands high standards that he himself is unable to achieve. He won't even show us because he doesn't know how. I am being questioned on every job. I am growing tired of it all as I am sure the technicians have as well. I actually hope I get RIF'd after making all this blood money. Between the extra money and the RIF money I should be fine for well over a year while I regain my sanity.

Here is the truth from someone who has crossed before. Nothing happend. When everyone returns to work, I was immediately reinstated back into the union, since it is a closed shop, I am required to pay dues regardless. I have filed numerous grievances over the years, and yes the unions represented my claims as they would anyone else's, by law they must. I have been able to vote in all elections and strike votes. No one has confronted me to my face, and I have worked side by side with multiple partners throughout the years, it was a total non-issue. I haven't crossed this time, but I definitly reserve that right if that is what eventually need to do. Everyone has their own needs in life, and should never be influenced ever by others who don't have the slightest ideas of your own circumstances.

No union representation and a miserable rest of their careers at Verizon, in other words scabs might as well quit because staying at Verizon might be very stressful for them.
