Outstanding!! EWAs will get to go back to their regular jobs, and the union will be left out standing on the corner where it belongs after all their disloyalty to the company that pays (or rather paid) their checks.
Saw a Frontier car leaving BR the other day. That could mean anything though.

Truth be told, that was my first thought when I saw that supposed LBF offer was only for a two-year contract, which is quite unheard of in the history of Bell System.

Agreed. The atmosphere has been just so toxic over the last couple of years that it wasn't even funny. Anyone who can make the numbers work for them will be out the door in no time.

I honestly can't wait to see the end of my career at VZ, be it by Frontier becoming my new employer, or by me leaving the industry altogether...
Frontier is coming people so get use to it. This fight is a complex one. Verizon will sell landline assets to the ONLY company that can get approval- Frontier. It's a done deal as Frontier has already assessed the North East for purchase well over five years ago. Verizon has already halted the build out of Fios in many major cities and is being sued for failure to complete in most of them. No point in spending when the break even point date is beyond the date of the sale of the assets.
Verizon doesn't care about Fios and actually encourages customers to switch back to other providers from where they came. Fios is an outstanding product and Verizon wireless will compete with it once the sale to Frontier is complete. It is much easier to win customers over from say Time Warner Cable than to convince Frontier Fios customers to switch.
Add in the unions bid to organize 60,000 wireless employees and you can see it is a mess.
Lets not forget about the dead wood Verizon refers to when it talks about employees with over 25 years. A long strike will allow the company to make an offer and get maximum takers. We are 4 weeks into this stoppage and most 30 year people are putting papers in once we go back.
Sometimes you need to step back and take a long hard honest look at things in order to understand what is at stake.

The Frontier NOC is already set up in Ashburn! They got a few VZer's to boot, this happened just before the strike.
Not true, it has been happening with the same job functions but the Employees are given a different job title.

Just wait for the employee vote to decertify the union.
Might happen in the future , won't happen now while the strike is hot. Doesn't make sense for either party.
A union shop with nothing but temporary, contractors who are non union? Also, since Frontier is now setting up a NOC in Virginia, a right to work state, I'd bet all the call center work would be moved their as soon as they buy wireline.
The union WILL NOT just disappear. Vz is a closed shop. Any new hires are part of the union. Just deal with it already. Crying is not going to change anything
@tva - you're an uniformed moron IQ is probably in the 70's. The plant is thrashed and FiOS makes zero money. Frontier would buy it as their overhead is 1/2 of what VZ is - thats what they have stayed in business. Read up buddy boy - that if you can read
Someone who doesn't have to pay union wages and benefits and only had to deal with contractors might find Verizon wireline very profitable.
I cant believe how uninformed ignorant posters can be. Frontier did buy VZ with union contracts 6-7 years ago. Educate up....
Maybe Frontier can buy GO90, Aol and Yahoo from Verizon for pennies on the dollar since they are not performing assets and Verizon is hurting financially to the point that they can't provide a good enough contract without all the B.S. give backs.

The plant is thrashed and FiOS isn't making money. If you get rid of the buildings and the union contracts, VZ will give it away at a bargain.
Frontier won't buy Verizon with a union contract, I can't believe how some people on here can continue to post ignorant stories.
If this thing go's 60 days nothing will be left to buy.
This seemed inevitable when Frontier started building their new NOC in the same building as Verizon's NOC in Virginia.
One day longer, one day stronger.

This has been my prediction as well and explains why Lowell is fully dug in. I assume he has promised Frontier a certain outcome on the union contract so he will not budge from the current offer on the table.
