Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Calling for a vote on the last and final offer.

I'm Reposting this serious topic buried by tons of spam posts:

I am calling for a vote on the last and final offer.

Why not? I think Verizon has convinced shareholders that killing the union is the way to go, and will ride us out. The rest of America, aside from a few socialist groups, just don't care.

I think that Mr. Shelton should put it up to a vote if we accept the last and final. We don't need any more feel good slogans from leadership. We need realistic leadership that will trust us with the vote on the offer like we trusted them when we voted on the ability to call a strike.

Mr. Shelton. Mr. Mooney. Give us our vote, give us credit. We are the ones sacrificing. We are the ones not getting paid...

Call your locals and demand it.

Sorry, buddy, not your call to make.

"I think that Mr. Shelton should put it up to a vote if we accept the last and final. "

Nope. Because he knows the offer at the table is not any of the above.

"We are the ones not getting paid..."

Not for nothing, but how would you have handled being QAR'd and getting a 30-day suspension for any small nonsense such as going to the bathroom without notifying your manager? That's six weeks without pay. And you're already complaining now?

We knew this was coming. Whoever chose not to see it was fooling themselves, big time.

As for the supposed vote, it would be a "no way no how" from this NY FT.

GPF, good point. We should have. This is what group think leads to. The union leaders count on our collective stupidity to rule us just as much as the company does. It reminds me of the meme that says none of us is as dumb as all of us together. We are caught now between a rock and a hard place.

You can't vote on the offer because you empowered your union leadership to make decisions on your behalf when you authorized them to call the strike. Too late for regrets now. Vz is fully dug in and is hiring thousands of replacements and they are willing to let you stay out for as long as you want until you either quit or accept their offer. It's unfortunate that the union leaders won't tell you the truth.

No from NYC

We gave then no new pensions in the last contract and now they want more!

Freeze pensions at 30 years. Why?? How many people are out the door at 30 anyway. The few that stay past 30 need a bonus for putting up with this company's crap

Just like the half a day for Xmas , why do they make big deals out of small items

Agreed. The Unions have done well publicizing their plight. It is time to come back to work as the leadership negotiate. The leadership should allow the rank and file to vote on the contract
