Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Enough is enough. Lowell must end this. It's costing Vz more in reputation than they will ever save in screwing the workforce

Some very astute observations are made in this thread; especially concerning "Nobody Cares" outside of CWA. The traditional wire line services represent a fraction of the revenue that makes up the Verizon portfolio, it does however contribute generously to the overall expenses. So, using basic financial acumen the model has to change in order to sustain future viability and growth. Bottom line the expenses of wire line need to drastically drop to make it worthwhile to both investors and existing shareholders...

listening to the Union elite tell me this strike is about future job security is like the hardback encyclopedia salesman screaming that the internet will never catch on or the vinyl record press operator fighting the digital music industry..... it just doesn't make sense. Take the 7.5% and make hay while the sun shines. If your young enough to worry past 5 or 10 years, retrain and let Verizon pay for it.

This strike has nothing to do with Verizon's reputation. Hardly anyone outside of Verizon even knows a strike is going on.

"Other than the east coast, no one cares about your little crappy copper strike"

Even there I'm not sure many folks are aware that a strike is in effect. I have many relatives in the Northeast and the few I have spoken with in the past month had no idea anything was going on. When I told them, they really could've cared less. Sympathy for unions is just not there anymore.

Not too late idiot... Other than the east coast, no one cares about your little crappy copper strike. Wireless is king and no one will give up their cell phone dummy.... Cross and go back to work...

Too late. Verizon is already worthless to me and everyone I come into contact with.

I spread Verizon hatred like a disease. I hope to live to see the day Verizon goes bankrupt.

News Flash. Lowell doesnt care. Verizon like most other companies are in business to provide acservice and make money. Its not the reponsiblity of any company to provide more and more jobs.

In case anyone noticed wireline has been hemorrhagin for years thanks to wireless. Why the unions never went after all if wireless since its inception is incredible.

Go see how the job market is. Who will give you full benefits, a pension and good salary in the real world?

If this ain't settled soon its gonna be a longggggggg summer.

Doesn't really matter. The wireline portion will all have a Frontier logo on it as soon as the union is out so it's worth selling.

Seriously, maybe Verizon has taken a hit in NYC, and some of the slums around it. But I promise you, outside of that little bubble, people either don't know, or don't care, that you're on strike. The world does actually extend out beyond the ghettos and slums of the union stronghold. My God, how ignorant and sheltered are you?? Have you ever been outside the five slums before?

Lowell does not have to end it. Your union leaders went out and screwed up and now will not eat crow so you lose. Just like 2011 CWA looks stupid and will eventually come back
