Just a few more weeks left for school. Soon I'll need to start filling out forms for summer camps and other summer activities for my kids. All the forms require insurance information and a copy of my insurance card. Do I just need to cancel these activities or is there some generic plan number for the CWA? Beginning to seem like I'll need to pay for government health care until either the Union goes back to work or I find another job.

Some people are so oops clueless.You will pay for camp but insurance.?You friend are in for rude awakening when you lived in the time of worrying about Camp was the only troubles you faced.Fight on Sheep!

It looks like all the low end plans in Virginia are in the $300-$500 range. Much lower if you have very low or no income but my wife is still working so our household income is too low to qualify. She works for a small company that doesn't provide healthcare. From reading the site it appears that if this goes through June13th we'll also need to either pay to insure both her and me or pay a tax penalty at the end of the year.
Yes. Go figure. I am finding this out. if you live in ny, you get strike unemployment and decent low cost healthcare. Ny is touting the essential plan as the most progressive healthcare program in the state. Even if you were working and made regular salary over the income limit, there are tax subsidies that pay a portion of the marketplace plan premiums. Those plans priced out cheaper than Verizon cobra prices. I guess because vz needs to shop plans for management, staff, and associate positions, they get some kind of bundle deals across large areas. At one time they offered the Union control of medical for its members which was rejected. That is how the trade unions get their medical. Why can't vz just pay us extra or give us a premium reimbursement? I would be happy to shop for my own in the marketplace. To subsidize all the low cost plans and obamacare plans, the premiums went up for most company plans, which seems to be similar to the amount we agreed to pay in starting last contract. I am convinced vz just shifted the extra cost of obamacare onto us. Same with retirees. Why would they need medical for life anymore, when they can get low cost or obamacare plans until Medicare. Then use the state plans as coinsurance. Company medical is dying. At least if the Union fights for it, they will have to keep providing it for management and non Union employees. At least you would hope so.

If it were only about the healthcare benefits, there would've been no strike in the first place. An awful lot more is at stake.
Serious question from a non Verizon. If you are able to get healthcare cheaper than what you had before, why are you striking for these benefits? If you gave up that issue to save Verizon money, couldn't you then negotiate that for something else that benefits you instead?

Nope, no first aid kit. I do get to goto a private doctor, have all scripts covers and like I said no co-pay or deductible. Sorry your wet dream of children being hurt or die has been spoiled. Like I said I just feel sorry for yours. Piece of sh--
$24 / month insurance? Sounds like a comprehensive policy. Let me guess, they send you a first aid kit if you get hurt?
Check with your state healthcare marketplace, Here in ny state, most of the strikers I know are getting their children covered for $9 a month each through ny state chip program. If u have not made income in four weeks, ny state has a new program called ny essentials that is enrolling us for 0 or 20 dollars per month per adult. Dental and vision are also available. This is based on your income projected forward, basically unemployment etc until we go back to work. Single income limit is around 24k and for a family of four, the limit is 48000. The coverage is about the same we had with Verizon. $15 copays, 6/10/30 dollar prescriptions. $75 er. $25 urgent care. Not sure about hospitalization, I think it's a 10 or 15 percent copay. Check the facts yourself by searching ny essentials 2016. I am not an expert on this, I am learning, but it's looking like I will be going this way. Both my kids have insurance for $24 a month. No deductibles no co-pay. You people truly are jealous pieces of sh--. I feel sorry for your kids because they are learning some sh--ty values from you. America at its finest. Pretty pathetic if you ask me
Today, 28,333 people starved to death. I have little sympathy for the children of striking parents that intentionally gave up a good income.

After u enroll it takes 2 weeks to cancel plan if u come back to work
