Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

140,000 INSTALLATIONS NOT DONE, REPAIR DUE DATE'S 7 DAY'S OUT. CUSTOMERS LEAVING IN THE THOUSANDS FOOTPRINT WIDE.

Please tell me again how Verizon is not being effected by this work stoppage? You just can not replace a 39,000 experienced member work force over night. But many of you believe it can be done. I don't know whether to admire your optimism, or be astonished at the level of your ignorance.

If Verizon wants to run themselves into the ground, that is their right. The days where the Employer honors and celebrates the employee are over. The days where each are loyal to each other are done. It is a sad fact but the political machine was more interested in money and less about people and this is what we end up with, a giant corp. who grinds anyone in their way. Pray all you want, strike all you want, complain all you want.....it is a different future

No, no, no... I heard is 140,000,000 installs not done, repairs are 170 days out, 190,000 EWAers have abandoned their jobs, and tomorrow the stock will drop to pennystock levels. One day stringer and we can add another zero to the end of all those numbers. So speaketh Chrissy Shelton, union demigod.

Depth of stupidity? Well, it is the Union that's holding Verizon hostage by striking. The big question is this..."How many lost customers are equal to one tech on strike?"

The longer the Union stays out the more customers that are lost and the less need for the OSP tech. For the OSP techs that are able to come back after the strike they will face a diminished work load due to lost customers. How many will be needed then?

Everyday a customer waits for service. Everyday the workload is going through the roof, Everyday the customers are leaving for the competition.

Please tell me again that this replacement operation is working, so i can judge the depth of your stupidity.

Of course you can be replaced. It's already happening. Every day you stay out, the less likely you will have a job to come back to. Your union is sticking it to you.

ckc , You must not work for Verizon. How many customers do you think are capable of doing a self install? 13 % or less , that's not a game changer. Then the customer gets frustrated , and have to send in installation tech to fix the installs.

@ckc I love who he blames the customer, ("calls involved some small missteps on the customers part") It just goes to show you how out of touch these people really are. There is no talking to theses fools. There gone.

@ckc Yes waiting on hold for over an hour and 20 minutes for Verizon repair is a lot fun i do agree, but when you are taken through 36 steps to fix something simple with someone that can barely speak English and is half way around the World. Now your talking an hysterical fun experience. And that's the way a company should take care of there paying customers. With lots of fun, when there stuff doesn't work

Get a life you ignorant loser.

Been handling Fios self installs calls in the FSC. Most customers were not aware of the strike and when sales told them the due dates were in the future, most have opted for self install if the house was pre-configured. Several actually had fun and calls involved some small missteps on the customers part, but when they got the wizard tools they loved them.

@zyu Tami Erwin has said on record at the beginning of the work stoppage, that Verizon typically does 30,000 to 35,000 thousand installations per normal week. So your right, Verizon is not even selling those installations as we speak. They are not in the work load because there not even accepting them. 140,000 paying customers NOT in the bankroll this month, You do the math on revenue, and do the math on the cost of this Strike. It's pure madness.

Losing customers is not a good thing. Those customers you lose in FIOS may carry over in to wireless, a lose / lose.

But of course the union Bosses and VZ corporate whores don't have all of this calculated, right?! They know what the sentiment will be, and they know the dollar amount of those losses and image damage. They can delay FIOS install hoping many will quit waiting and give up, and they can hope the same for any POTS tickets and installs. They're hoping people just give up and go away so they don't have to overtly end the programs. Even if/when things get back to normal with whoever is ultimately going to be in those positions it's probable that those installs will go to the back of the list into the same purgatory where the disconnects in the CO'S are that are from a few years back.

Shaking my head...isn't everyone including the Union saying Verizon wants to get rid of their jobs? Then how is customers leaving in droves good for the Union? The less amount of customers will make it easier to sell the company and no one is a winner in this. If the CEO is looking to run the company into the ground, then customers leaving is a good thing for the company...can't have it both ways.
