Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Massive Contracting is Occurring, Union Can Get Back To Work Or Dissolve Itself Starting 5/25/2016 (Lockout Date)

Including opening positions for associates who have crossed to go to new positions.

I recommend associates who wish to continue working at Verizon to cross the picket line ASAP. After the 25th you have surrendered your position at Verizon and you may apply for unemployment.

We have budgeted over a billion dollars for this strike. We are willing to spend up to three billion to reorganize the wireline side completely.

Union is done, I mean no harm but I am seriously suggesting if you want a job still please cross that picket line starting tomorrow! We will welcome you back with open arms!

HC,

Verizon Director

Stop this nonsense. Union strikers should take a good look in the mirror if they want to talk about selfishness and greediness. Sure, the CEOs make way too much, but so do the union for their education levels and job skills. If they don't want their jobs outsourced, they should be willing to accept a good American wage. We ALL have to pay more each year for health insurance; if that angers you, organize against the health care industry. As for the "managers" who are doing your jobs, most of them are hr people, secretaries, it guys, and wellness workers who make way less than union rates and who have no more to do with "management" than a stray dog. They are there doing union jobs 12-15 hours a day, across the continent from family, so they can keep their low-paying, highly insecure jobs with decent benefits. I know plenty of people with Ph.D.

degrees and decades of experience who don't have nearly the income and benefits the union is demanding

Get a grip, people.

Whoever thinks the company is crumbling is sadly mistaken. Whoever thinks there are secret negotiations...also sadly mistaken. Final, best and last offer. Believe it...accept it. Don't ruin the very good life you had a month ago by believing there is another different offer in the making. Tell your union leaders they are destroying your life, your very good life. Look around you. Talk to your family friends neighbors. Talk to them about pay, vacation time, raises, healthcare benefits...where do you stand vs them. You will be amazed how good the package we have is. Don't throw it away. Talk to them about job security. Does the less inviting package they have offer job security? Are they guaranteed anything? Put your head in the game. Do what you know you need to do. You can stand united...but stand united for a great offer and what is right. Protect your family. Protect yourselves. Stand united and keep your lives whole.

The people who want to scream mgmt. sucks or union sucks...look deep my co-workers, We all know for every "bad" management person there is a "bad" associate. Humans are humans. Wearing union red does not automatically entitle to you to anything. Nor does currently working earning more money than imaginable week after week make anyone perfect.

I am enjoying the work, my new found co-workers and the pay. I am also missing my great team that walked out a month ago. You know who you are. Know you are missed. Hoping the smiling faces, great attitudes and hard workers come back soon. Leave the anger and the bitterness in the trash. Be joyful your good life was only briefly interrupted and return united and ready to do what you all do best...take care of the customer and your family.

We don't want them to come back! The longer they're out prancing around in front of VZ properties the more $ I make. Go and continue wearing your little RED shirts but continue on to the Blue Oyster Bar down the street because we don't need you anymore..... EWA for life!

No lockout, no impasse. Only temporary contractors. It is much cheaper and no more benefit, medicare, pension problems.

Why lockout? I think the company will declare an impasse at which point they are allowed to hire permanent replacements. The union can file a ULP charge with the NLRB but there is no guarantee that they will rule in favor of the union. A dangerous gamble in my opinion.

You means thousands of criminals. That's who is coming to the work. Criminals and losers who couldn't keep a job

Wait till they stab or shoot someone. Then Verizon can't bury it in the media

It would be nice justice for any scabs who crossed the line to be kicked back out, by federal labor laws if Verizon declares a lock out, no one can stay , company can't reward scabs.

OP isn't bullshitting anyone here guys. I know that over 1500 contractors were brought on in the last week. The plan is to make them permanent after 5/20. I have a lot of friends on the vzb side up there and some from when I was vzt that I would hate to see lose everything.

No agenda guys, honestly. I want this over as much as anyone.

OP: I believe it's 5/20, not 5/25. And what I've heard repeatedly is that it even includes those who have crossed the picket line, so crossing isn't going to do them any good. I'm pretty sure it's in the union's court, and the union doesn't seem to even be trying right now.

Joke is on the union. This post is an inverted troll with hopes to fire up the union to stay out so the EWA can keep raking in the dough of double OT.

Additional benefit is witnessing self righteous ignorance go down in flames of unemployment

As soon as the Union Members start getting there Unemployment checks, added to the Relief fund. They will be sitting pretty. This Strike can go till September, and more at that point. But it won't the company will at some point have to cut it's loses.

Although this was a very lame attempt by somebody, I can assure you the company is in no way, shape or form about to buckle.

From the outside i can see how you'd like to believe that and even how you could be convinced but don't bite into the misinformation being given out.

This will definitely go into or past September this year. I personally couldn't care less if the union win or loses. Just know the reality is that as sure as the non-union members are in for a right, the lockout is coming for you too.

We are all just pawns in this chess game they're playing here.

The company must be on it's last legs in this strike, they are really hurting from what I've been hearing. This Strike will be over soon, the company just can't go on like this.

FAKE post again trying desperately scare Union Members into crossing. This is getting flattering. You must really be sinking.

STOP BEGGING ME TO CROSS....WHY DO YOU CARE SO MUCH ABOUT LITTLE OLE ME, AS TO BEG ME THE WAY YOU DO?
