We're hiring all new contracters and giving them great pay. Training is 1 to 2 weeks depending on the position. I'm not against the union but this time I feel that they are making a bad mistake. Only people not feeling it are those who's cars and homes are paid off and kids are adults now. Younger union folks are going to be in a world of hurt.
@QCW- that's what I thought
@QCW- "I can guarantee that 4 out of 5 of you cry yourself to sleep." why do you think that? is that what you did when you started?
lol @ crying ourselves to sleep. Whatever makes you feel better about not receiving a paycheck or having the comfort of health insurance bro.
It's working out perfect for Verizon. They are bringing in Cushman and Wakefield to do the work for managers out on EWA. Once the strike is over a lot of union will retire or not return and Rifs will be forthcoming to management because they are now considered non essential. Most won't complained because they filled there pockets for about 1-2months of overtime. I heard a reduction of 1 week per year buyout is being implemented.
It's good to watch a group of people jump in joy inside their guided cages.
I can guarantee that 4 out of 5 of you cry yourself to sleep.
Lowell said yesterday in the center he visited that EWA should plan on being there til August. Not what I was hoping for.
To be honest, this job is cake. I am making a ton of money. It is tough, sometimes, working the long hours, but the checks are definitely making up for it. Keep being strong Unions, my bank account thanks you!
"I like it... 12 hour days, but it's easier than my bau Job"
Same here. Some days are as long as 16 hours but the work is much much easier than my regular job, and the pay is a lot better to boot! So.....i'm cool with this for as long as it goes. I'm hoping it goes for a few more months at least.

is it really working out great for you geek
great for me! I'm raking it in... I see my family every night. about the only downside is working Saturdays. that'll end as we get more and more contractors/vendors ramped up.
