I'm an EWA and can do three installs a day. But has nothing to do with that camp cupcake training at the NCC.

I am amazed at how many company trolls have infiltrated this board now. Keep talking but it doesn't change the fact that the company is up sh-- creek without a paddle.

@UPQ- you are absolutely right.... but, if you're a union member, it takes 6 months of training. it kinda makes you see how Verizon may be better off without them.

Drilling a hole isn't exactly rocket science. I built a home theater in my basement and had to pull wire (electrical and low voltage) all over the place - install jacks etc. Unlike the FiOS way, I had to keep everything hidden and in-wall/ceiling.

The wiring requirements for a FiOS install and pretty crude - once you see how it's done, even a child can do it.

@cth For the most part you are right. The EWA's coming from admin jobs don't have the baxkground. But there are some of us that come ftom tier 2/3 support, lab, enginerring etc that have a technical background. We are bouncing around working the jobs that others cannot. In the process we are also training are fellow EWA's. Every day this is getting a little bit easier.

Doesn't matter. They don't care and neither do shareholders. Percentage of revenue impacted is negligible. Acceptable loss, collateral damage, etc. Vz is saving a fortune right now in salaries and benefits that far outweighs costs of lost business. Will come down to who has deepest pockets to lose the most. Good luck.

Yes. The pain from dealing with the union every other year will be a reoccurring problem. They are taking their lumps now so they don't need to deal with strikes in the future.

You guys should be glad - you loath the "greedy company", now you can find a job at a company who doesn't care about profits.

You have no clue how this company operates. They micromanage using numbers so yes 50 graduates a day that cant drill a hole. Point is looks good on paper but untill those 50 can do 3 installs a day you can justify cost

@hbd There's more jobs at Verizon to cover than just Fios installers. Buisness circuits, mux's, copper splicing, Fttc jobs. Very few are being trained for this side of business right now

You guys can do rally everyday. It doesn't matter. Verizon doesn't care even if it takes a year. There are at least 50 ppl on Fios installation finish the training everyday. It has been four weeks already. Think about the number. My friend is a trainer in VA training center.

It probabaly will take a year but that is a price vz seems to be willing to pay at the moment. I don't think you guys realize how badly they want to rid themselves of unions.
