Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

I was hoping the union would drive down stock price

I sold off 6 figures in my 401k a couple months ago when I figured ~54 was a high point... was hoping the strike would drive it back down to mid-high 40s so I could move money back into VZ stock and ride it back up again.

But the strike has not had a significant impact on the stock price- it went down more on the ex-dividend date than it has anything strike related... hasn't gone below 50. Can't you guys do something? daddy wants to retire early.

@mln my 401k is up 10% from the beginning of the year after getting out of company stock... yeah, must have been a stupid move. If price is low enough I'll go back in- buy low, sell high, repeat. If the union could bring this company down, then the stock price would have already dropped...

It'll go 1 of 3 ways:

1) If union gets a similar contract to what they already have, it won't affect stock price much- status quo

2) If the union accepts "final offer", then costs go down and stock price may go up a little, but probably not much

3) If the union is busted and replacements come in, Wall St will see that as a win, and with future profitability up, stock price will likely rise as people buy into it.

you could argue with my opinion on the outcomes I guess, but I don't see a downside to getting in at less that $50

I hear you OP....Ive been buying more as I think that if the company wins this battle (odds appear they will to me....a gamble still though) the share price is going to spike up fast. It might settle back down again afterwards, but its likely to jump and I want to catch it when it does.
