Well, I am stuck in one of the biggest cities in the Northeast, a veteran of over 15 years of working at level 2 for layer 3 devices for some of the company's largest and highest revenue generating customers. I've survived MCI, I survived Worldcom, but I don't think I am going to survive this.
If I could take rif and leave this city tomorrow, I would.
I've never seen so many homeless people in my life. Is this the grand result of high tax liberal states? Where's magic results of the liberal wand around here? Today I saw a homeless guy humped over in a wheelchair on a street corner, blanket over his head. He could have been dead under that blanket for all I could tell, and if he was, none of the spandex wearing libbies would notice or care, at least until their nostrils got assaulted by decomposition stink.
Everyday I admire the union workers more and more, watching them strike tirelessly out there. Yeah, they call me scab, but I don't take it personally. I am beginning to understand what they are striking about. At least they are fighting for SOMETHING. At least they are making a fighting effort in solidarity. When was the last time you saw that in this country in this wasteland of Kim Kardashian asswatchers? You have to admire 'em.
You know what's funny? For years I watched as Verizon outsourced customer management out to Manila and India, and I used to joke with my colleagues -haha- that the only reason they were keeping us around was to break the union. Turns out that was exactly the case.
I am sorry to report to all my ewa and union readers of this worthless scribe, that these foreign folks ARE going to take your jobs eventually. If they can outsource my group, which is a very difficult group to work for, not a single one of you out there are safe. 2.5 billion people is a massive number, among that millions upon millions are engineers who will all do your jobs for next to nothing, and will not have high health care costs associated. So even if you union folks get your jobs back, get ready for unemployment. No way Verizon is going to pass up outsourcing every nook and cranny of the company they can to this massive army of cheap SKILLED labor.
My goal short term is to survive this, get rif, then go on and find some way to make a decent living.
I'm one of those people that likes to know what is going on in the world. Did you know that China has backed their currency with Gold and is shaking it under the noses of OPEC oil countries who are drooling looking at it as we speak? US is going to lose their petro currency status. The petro currency status is the only reason why your dollars still buy things. Since everything is made in China now, the US dollar's only salvation was that countries had to use it to buy oil. So think about that my fellow EWA's. Your double time may not amount to jack sh-- once this is all over. My suggestion if to take that double time money and use it fast, pay down debt, get solid. You may not have much time to use its full potential.
