Thread regarding AT&T Inc. layoffs

Former employee view

the morality of offshore outsourcing

AT&T is on a dangerous path by scapegoating and outsourcing IT, Phillip Tsen was part of AT&T. He was a manager and distinguished engineer, The savings (per job) are 30% -- if you the offshore 100 people, my entire team was disposed, the savings is about $3 million. That's a quick savings. But then at the beginning of the next year, after you have done all the offshoring, the CEO and executives take million dollar bonuses. This is just not right at all. That's what is hurting me, this betrayal of loyal employees.

You all just need to leave them all to our God, who is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and they will certainly get their share in due tome. Can just imagine all the plans being made to take all those millions to HE'LL to celebrate with satan -

what a day that will be.

I don't understand it either. Even if your not Union much of the platform should be sparking national conversation (with employees, fmr employees and customers). I cannot wrap my mind around taking losses, sending jobs to Eastern Europe/India etc., surpluses, causing all this havoc with workplace culture/infighting/sabatoge and then these execs taking unprecedented comp packgages.

Especially when they're not growing the business in meaningful, new profitable ways. It's largely a shell game. Rob Peter pay Paul. Find me 50 million dollars (that was a svp directive)...and since you can't figure out how to make it - you play the shell game with people's jobs. This entire conversation down to the revenue games that are played should be exposed. This should be national conversation.

I'm not a socialist by any stretch of the imagination. Some CEOs are worth every penny they EARN while others play these circa 1988 wallstreet reindeer games.
