If Chrissy Shelton practiced what he preached, wouldn't he be offering to help the IBEW folks with no medical options and not picket salary? Why not let the IBEW what it's beak a little on that $440,000,000 strike fund they keep crowing about. Sounds like corporate greed to me... Is solidarity only a word to shout to the masses, but has no real meaning?

I don't understand why IBEW don't negotiate the contract with Verizon by themselves. I think they can do it without CWA.
Let's not forget back in during the 1986 strike the IBEW 827 fund had already been eliminated and we were only getting a small sum for picket duty which was once a week. The strike fund was abolished in 1984 when 827 bought the President / VP, and all (11or 12) E-board members cars to use. Hosed then, hosed now too.
IBEW dues are 1.7% of base pay. no strike fund and no further medical offered to its members aside form links to healthcare.gov, nj family care or a partner's insurance plan if it exists.
IBEW voted down a union strike fund after the 1989 strike. The reason why they don't have one is thanks to their own members because they wanted lower dues that they could save for themselves in case of emergency. How is that CWA's fault now?

Don't think it's even legal to do that. CWA members pay dues and from those dues the strike fund gets funded.
