Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Here's what I don't get. These union members choose to be loyal to a corrupt union rather than to the company that actually pays them. They choose to let their families suffer rather than suck up their pride. They would rather lose their job altogether and become unemployed rather than cross a picket. It seems to be a very screwed up mentality, kind of a group think sort of thing you see with various cults out there.

Many of them have been brought up with the idea that there is nothing worse than crossing a picket. They should choose death rather than cross a picket. You know, I'm sure the polygamist women out there on the border of Utah and Arizona have been taught from a young age to never, ever defy their leader. They are to never question authority, never interact with the heathens out there in the world.

Honestly, this seems rather whacked, both scenarios. Cross the line, leave the polygamist colony and be liberated. You'll look back and wonder why you ever hesitated, why you let your family suffer so long. All I can say is I could never bear to see my family suffer for my pride. They mean everything to me, and I would do anything for them, legal that is.

Step back and ask yourself why you are still holding out. If it is because of peer pressure or some unreasonable fear of doing the unthinkable, it's time to man up and do the right thing.

I do not see where the OP has stated it is acceptable to cause physical harm to anyone, or that "they do not care about children's lives."

If anyone has shown no empathy it is those who come here to gloat at the prospect of Union members being without salaries or health insurance. It is not the OP but you who have no empathy and justify evil in the name of promoting shareholder value.

Being anti-union is being unamerican and those who oppose us are on the wrong side of history. The people running VZ now are no better than the robber barons of the past and if you support them you are truly a person with no fight left in them and just willing to bend over for the oligarchs.

If the company doesn't need so many employees and wireline is dying why would be forcing unlimited amount of overtime be a sticking point in contract, am I missing something?

This OP and those with like minds are absolutely the most evil and psychotic form of human being. They really should be on some seriously strong meds. Not only are they a danger to society but also to themselves and their families. Because of what they perceive in their warped little minds, they then think it is acceptable for them to cause physical harm to, and try and ensure that if they can't work some place, then no one should be ble to. It doesn't matter if you are happily employed or not, they will burn it all down because they feel somehow slighted. They do not care about the welfare of anyone else or those children's lives. These are the type of people who ran the nazi death camps or put nooses around another human being's neck and felt no empathy. They would rather see everyone else and the whole world perish. The good news is that they are completely impotent in carrying out on their threats this time. Too bad the same were not true in them being able to pass on this rotten gene pool. I really hope that if any one knows a person like this OP, that they call for some guys in white jackets and a big net to take them away.

What evil do you see? I see a corporation protecting the investments of their stockholders. That is what they are supposed to do. A union is supposed to protect the interests of it's members. I see them doing the opposite. They seem to be intentionally hurting their members to make political points. That betrayal is evil.

Luckily for me, it is not up to you to decide whether or not my arguments are valid. Nor am I required to debate with someone who obviously is not interested in being even remotely honest.

Both sides are fully dug in at this point, except the union has no leverage. The company will continue to deploy thousands of contractors and EWA employees, and will not care if the union stays out for months. This is not like previous strikes. Very different mindset for the company this time. The union should have accepted mediation when it was available as no better offer is forthcoming.

Just the kind of answer I'd expect. When you run out of any valid arguments you resort to insults and attacks. Have fun riding that barrel over the falls while your leadership keeps getting paid by you and the democrats. They will certainly enjoy your sacrifice.

Well, I don't see the company doing evil. I just see a greedy union trying to gouge some more cash at the expense of the other employees. I also thing your union leadership has no wish to see you members win. They dangle the hopes of more cash in front of you to get you out on the picket line for them. Meanwhile they have help push someone else's political agenda. So, you are sitting there doing nothing while your leadership sells you down the river.....

Might as well go looking for another job. Neither the company nor the union are interested in settling this.
