Why should verizon pay for the healthcare of the 40000 workers striking. They are presently not working for the company so why would you pay anyone with benefits or a paycheck not working for you? Doesn't make sense. You chose to strike you chose to walk off the job. Your not entitled to anything. The union mentality makes you think you are but be realistic your not and that's why verizon is not budging on its final offer. When the union accepts this the strike will end.

Unions are losing their grip, it's not like the 20's and beyond when they meant something in this country. In these days they are not needed and they're afraid. VZ does not want to work with Unions anymore so if I was a member, I would cross and go back to work because eventually VZ will cut the cord and everyone will be jobless. This side of the business is old and VZ wants to sell it off just like the rest of the country. GET BACK TO WORK guys, it's not worth it anymore.

I was at West the day after 9/11 and worked there for six months. No union employees were there until one month into it,reason why union told them it was unsafe to go in. Anyone who says they were there is a liar. I'm in the WTC health program, if a union guy did go there he or she would be in the same.
Nobody compared it to responders. "Technicians" who i was refering to were phone employees who went there and fixed the network cause it was a priority. They breathed the same crap. Next time read the post twice before you respond!

Everyone who worked downtown at the time had their name on a special list and was eligible for thorough health testing, whether they were a part of the area force or loaned in.
Nobody needs to install or fix anything.

Don't ever compare what you do to that of a first responder...ever...especially 9/11 first responders. You aren't in the same ballpark as them. Their care is covered by the 9/11 health and compensation act. Can you provide some specific examples of said health issues that you are experiencing?
They laid me off 5 months ago and they are still paying my medical. Thought about canceling since my new employer provides health insurance but the thought of them paying the full 35 weeks makes me happy.

Why? Because working in these condition (outside plant) you are exposed to all kinds of health issues that dont go away when employees lawfuly strike. How about them employees who went to nyc during 9/11 that are now experiencing all kinds of issues (documented) related to their job duty for this company. U gonna take their healthcare away? Is that not owed to them too?
No I'm a realist living in reality. I'm actually an outsider no relation to the company and can't believe workers are striking. You can hold out all you want for job security but the company is not going to give it to you. No employee has job security in the telecom business. And when verizon sells the rest of the wireline side all of the union workers will be looking for jobs elsewhere.
They will budge off their final offer because you jackoffs can't install or fix anything. That hurts the bottom line, which is all they care about. They hate my 1st level just as much as they hate me, you are fooling yourself if you think you matter to them.
