Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

" I'd rather get 80% of what I want then to go over the cliff with my flag flying"

I hope everyone involved in this negotiation heeds Mr. Reagan's wise words.

@kia -- my posting that comment had nothing to do with Reagan's stance on unions. I probably should have posted it without his name.

The point he made with that statement is still very valid to both sides of our strike. It ain't helping anyone if either side carries their flag over the cliff.

@cxz - we haven't had a real president in this country since Kennedy, everyone after was little more than a puppet figurehead for the elites.

So true @bna. These people are getting a paycheck from Verizon and plan to retire on the pension being held by Verizon yet they are doing everything they can to damage business for Verizon. You have to be really stupid to think putting Verizon out of business is going to help the paycheck or pension you will be getting from them.

Reagan is the best president this country has seen since Truman. Even if he weren't, the pearl of wisdom posted by the OP is very appropriate for both sides in this labor dispute to think about.

@roi -- every president in our lifetimes has had something corrupt about them. Slick Willy earned that name for a reason, and his felon-committing wife is about to be back in the White House (assuming she doesn't get beat by the buffoon opposing her). That said, they were all smart enough to make it the White House so chances are we could all learn a thing or two from them.

Thanks OP for posting.

I love it how the point of this point goes right over some people's heads.

I'm pretty sure @roi is one of those people who finds the negative in ANYTHING he gets involved with. This union seems to be full of 'glass half empty' people.

Reagan was a corrupt POS, Iran-Contra is just one example. Trickle down economics? Give me a break. What he had in mind was all the fat cat rich a--holes trickling down urine on the rest of us from atop their ivory towers. His words and "wisdom" holds little water imo.

looks like they're going to strike themselves right out of a Job.. What doesn't make sense is that the Union has ~$1.6 billion in Verizon stock but yet they continue to try and diminish the Company by cutting service wires and leaving messages on their hotline to terminate their contracts with Verizon and switch to another Carrier.. Not very smart
