I've had a pretty nice dividend payment EACH quarter the last few years, damned nice. Buying all those blocks of shares years ago, max available and at discount, keeps me smiling. Easy money.

That's great that Verizon is thought highly of by unknown associations like WBE? And Gartner 2016? I have never heard of most of these on the list, and the fact that Verizon is "recognized" by them does nothing for the business.

I think the point form the OP was what has Verizon accomplished from a product development standpoint? Last I checked they sit on top of aging wireless and wireline technologies that are saturated and no longer growth driven. They have brought nothing revolutionary to market since 4G. They have nothing lined up to drive growth and revenue.

So, telling the OP to "suck it" is great and all, but the fact of the matter is Verizon has now accumulated over a $130 billion in debt, more than any other company in the world last I checked, and really has nothing to show for it. Besides droves of angry customers and workers. They have nothing lined up to ensure future business success either.

But hey, don't take my word for it, this is according to Fortune Magazine. You know Fortune? An association people have actually heard of? Not the National Hamsters Association or something like that.

@nfo -

The union picked a fine time to strike - and you voted on it. there is a perfect storm brewing and you pulled your own rug. Stock Market and economy have been manipulated for a long time now and its about to take a giant crap. When the economy goes down RIFs happen,,,,,, as long as this is an economic strike, VZ doesnt need to look any further for disgruntled employees.

They also won an award for most clueless CEO and TOP most likely to pull the rug out from under his employees. lets not forget the last award, most likely to run the company into the ground by spending money to buy dead and non profitable "assets"

Let's see......how about:

1 Military Employer by the Military Times

Top Company for Executive Women by NAFE

Top Corporation by WBE

1 Network in reliability, speed, data and call network by RootMetrics

Top 50 employer by disABLED magazine

Top corporation for Multi-cultural Business

I could go on, but I've proven my point. Is Verizon a good company? Yes. Is Verizon a greedy company? That's a matter of perspective.

I got paid well and enjoyed my work while getting that pay. My family is happy. I made my mortgage and car payments. Is there more that I am not seeing? Do I have some sort of huge equity stake in Verizon where I need to spend my nights second guessing executive management? If they screw up, that is on them. I still get paid. And if I ever get riffed, I take my money and go somewhere else. What is to worry about?
