If I were Lowell McAdam I would ramp up my "new" workforce and then politely explain to the Union that their services are no longer needed. Since 20% of the union population calls out sick annually, after doing the math, only 32,000 of the current 40,000 are needed. Also take into consideration that another 10%'s job function is now obsolete brings total to 28,000. As we have seen since management has taken over the work, even fewer are needed to perform the work as it is well know wireline business is decreasing. As for the VZ Wireless employees. Why would Verizon ever entertain introducing this dinosaur union organization into the most successful wireless company. That would just create another headache.

Chris and Lowell are drinking Stella and puffing some fine cigars on hole 11 right now, just pondering when the timing is right so the union can say they won. Just keep those early retirement offers rolling out so you can ditch us all! Spend that 9 billion and get it over with.
