Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

....what's next?

Looks like recent discussion is around the email from Mudge. I've been digesting this today and reconciling life until 6/30 and what is about to transpire. Perhaps this a ploy to force those out in the field to cross. The bargaining agreement was crafted in a such a way they knew the leaders wouldn't bite. It walks the fine line between being publicly acceptable and reprehensible by the union. This email was probably drafted weeks ago and there an itchy finger to hit the send button.

Those attending the Annual on Thursday,will have all day tomorrow to think what it means for the 2Q an rest of the year. That email will go over really well with the voters on Thursday. It implies that mediation is out the window. The contingency plans are moving forward and divorce proceedings are moving along.

From VZ perspective the bargaining process is over. There is lots of denial on this. It's over...that's it. Sucks for those in collective bargaining. NLRB is not going to be much of help. There was a reason mediation was rejected. That could be immediate call for impasse proceedings. From NLRB perspective this is a respectable offer.

This is the question for union members? Where are your labor lawyers? They need to be arm locked with you in the trenches. You need to have the mayors and politicians and city planners at your side.

Where are these people?

You are not going to "bargain" with a corporation with access to best of the best. Tooting your horns and screaming at people make you look like a crazy person. Harassing people outside of Wireless stores is not making a dent. A vast majority of the sales on online now anyways. For a group a people who despise and don't trust this company you are awfully compelled to get back together. This is a toxic co-dependent relationship.

Good luck as always

They don't care what happens to the copper plant, they don't want pots customers, they really don't care about dsl customers who happen to have dial tone, they want the policies changed on must have dial tones like for alarms and elevators. That leaves the fios, which they don't care about because they stopped building it any new areas. What's left is find a new job and get a cut of the billions in the retirement fund. Keep doing what we're doing with the understanding they are probably gonna cut the ties at this point. But change cell companies an masse, that's 30-35k left of us who still pay them for cell service and plan on having to move on. I don't wanna go back to making miracles out of the mush that they call a network, it's a shame what they've done but it's almost past the point of no return now. Total greed.

@ndu nails it

BR manager here...Smudge and Crammi's email was more BS BR propaganda to instill disdain towards the union and allege preparedness for a long drawn out battle. Didn't fool anyone. Its pathetic that leadership stoops to this rudimentary level...its also disgusting that they put all non union workers on edge by presenting this. Stick it up there assIll work EWA only when I see some of these 35 YO female Exec directors get pulled from their flowery offices and shoved up a ladder to a bloated cross box in the rain....call me then. Ill hold the ladder.

Spot on. The union is getting played by the company and they don't even realize it's happening right in front of their eyes.
