Greedy air traffic controllers Union was going to cripple air traffic in the US. Reagan said come back to work or be fired. He fired all who did not come back. I stood next to one of the clowns at the Carnegie unemployment office back in the 80's. Career gone, lives ruined. I am watching it now in real time. The next place you picket should be at your own local union hall. Let the rank and file vote, not be led around by union bosses who are only in it for the money and power. I am jumping to the wireless side if the opportunity presents itself, screw wireline.

The replacement workers are coming, and the public thinks you are a bunch of Whiney thugs that feel privileged. despite working in a declining field. You want more, including decision making power not to consolidate call centers that are an obvious money waster. You don't care, because you want what you want, like a spoiled child. I worked at worldcom at it is stunning how fast your company, stock, and lifestyle can go down the tubes. You blind, ignorant, POS do not even see it coming.
Funny how nasty the union lovers are now that they can see the union is going down down down. You can give them a good job and pay them well but many are still rif raf just the same. Apologies to the good ones out there who are stuck on the same side as the trashy ones.

@tzn .... I think that in this case VZ can permanently replace workers as no ULP was filed by the Union.
As well, VZ essentially declared Impasse with the LBFO. Some of the Union striking points revolve around managerial decisions such as contracting, center locations, etc. and I suspect the NLRB or any arb/med will not rule in favor of the CWA or such managerial decisions. Pay, safety, etc. bargaining is another matter and is where the NLRB or arb/med will look at and attempt to find a balance.
The offered contract was very well thought out and presented. NLRB will be hard pressed to declare the offered contract unfair. Verizon has played their hand very well.
I think I read it took 10 years to get to normal staffing levels and billions of dollars in costs . Cost them way more to do that than to give PATCO members what they wanted in the first place. Different situation, govt has endless money (seemingly)- Verizon shareholders may not react well to that.
Wrong.....Different situation...They were government employees. They now have laws that prohibit Federal and State workers from striking. Ex. Taylor Laws. Verizon is public company not under any of those restrictions to Strike. As a matter of fact Verizon can't just fire or replace any striking Union employee. It is there Job and can not be permanently replaced. Check with the National Labor Relations Board for the Facts. Please post what you know, and not something that comes out of you A--.

Wow sounds like u really planned ahead, I know many others like myself have a contingency plan and will find other employment when push comes to shove while you remain under the greedy thumb of not having a life and working in sweatshop conditions.
