President here....Union is not a charity...we pick what we think we need to cover! There is vaccine for Lyme disease they could have gotten through their veternarian!

Are you telling me that they openly talk about other family health issues on your shop? Aren't there HIPPA laws and privacy when it comes to someone's health records?

Does this not apply to the Unions? So the Union says, " hey lets look at so so's health records" or " lets talk to the union trustee and get a little cash from their pensions" " they wont mind"?

I'm in 2108 and I'm aware of it. People have to do what they have to do. We can't take care of everyone.

Did you and your spouse even make a plan B? We have been working without a contract since August 2015. Why didn't you both plan to make sure that your household is in order. You both earn a decent wage and to be honest there is no excuse for not having a backup plan. Contract or not You both should be able to survive 1 month or 2 without income. If not, you both need to evaluate your finances. Very likely you are living way above your means.

To the OP, you are doing the right thing! Our families and children come before this self-centered union. It's reprehensible the way you are being treated!!

Hard to believe. Seems more like you both are missing your paychecks. There are other options to crossing the picket line. Seems like you both did not explore those options first. Remember the union contract is the reason why you even have the wages and benefits you and spouse enjoy.

And I'm sorry you're having to deal with hateful people who seem to equate being in a union to being in the Armed Forces. A true "brotherhood" doesn't have your brothers berating you for having to do what's best for a sick child. I'll never understand the mindset some of those people have.
