Verizon is hiring full-time temporary Technicians to replace those employees who are on strike.
We are hiring VA/DC area:
Richmond area - 11
Norfolk/Newport News area - 18
Northern VA/DC area - 42
Technicians are the people who keep our fiber-optic network rolling. Develop your skills and gain hands-on experience. You'll be out and about in the neighborhoods we serve, installing, testing, repairing and maintaining the technology that keeps millions of customers connected.
Duties may include but are not limited to the following:
Install, rearrange and reconnect fiber optic and/or associated copper wiring at pole, underground or building terminals.
Configure, connect, disconnect, test, repair and maintain Company and customer equipment.
Work with fiber optics services and digital subscriber line (DSL).
Perform diagnostic tests on integrated circuit equipment to determine source of problem.
Interpret service orders and circuit diagrams.
Evaluate customer communication needs and promote the sale of Company products.
Communicate with customers on matters dealing with service, planning and billing.
Work aloft; climb ladders and poles; enter tunnels, buildings, trenches, crawl spaces, manholes and other confined spaces.
May perform light digging.
May work outdoors in all weather conditions,
Wear appropriate safety equipment as required; may work in presence of hazardous materials.
