I have orientation and 1st day of training 5/9. I was told I have to be OK with being strike replacement but was told if I am doing a good job there's no reason to think this will be a temporary contract job. I worked for what is now Comcast for 14 yrs, last role was cable/fiber install/repair/splicing. During training and 1st 45 days I will make $27.50/HR, then $29/hr after that. During initial work I'll be in NYC so I get $128/day per diem for food/gas and they are putting me up in a hotel. After 45 day probation I will be able to work in Boston area where I live.

Cable splicers are a dime a dozen!
Don't mention your hotel , they will get you kicked out
$1000/day...sounds funny but actually since I'm getting double time by Thursday during EWA I'm actually making $1080 per day before taxes 3 days a week. OP, you will have no issues staying busy.
Good luck taking over for the lazy good for nothing union people. They are all sheep and do whatever their higher up paid union leaders.
I was offered one too.... 1000 dollars a day...I'm awesome at fios
Don't tell them what hotel you are staying at or they will be picketing your hotel in the morning ! Congratulations on your new job.
Congratulations! I hope it works out for you in both the short and long terms. Lots of former cable people working at Verizon these days.
Nice! Which hotel did they put you in?
