Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Verizon bosses

Instead of forcing tech's to move from state to state why not work with the union to create a special unit that's job is just that to go wherever needed ,either new hires or existing volunteers make it attractive for the employees I think you would have no problem getting a great team together .

Don't outsource it really looks bad again work with the union to create a staff of part timers God knows there are plenty of Americans that could do the job and need the job maybe do something along the lines of a small wage and benefit package this would appeal to a large amount .

With retirement find another option that will appeal to everyone maybe a one time cap payment at 30 years and continue 401 option .health care is expensive however the amount you pay could be negotiated better no one wants to lose verizon as an account use that to your advantage .

Coei has travelled more than just new England. Numerous have worked in new York, Virginia, DC, etc. Hasn't been a problem management gets volunteers first then senior by choice junior by force. We have all been junior at one time and had to do/go places we didn't want. This should not even be an issue union should agree to it as long as seniority is followed.

On top of all the other reason why the Unions will never allow the forced movements is the fact that while we are supposed to be "in solidarity" and "brothers" that goes out the window when the strike ends. One union does not want another union in their turf except for when they really really have to for storm restoration.

Verizon can implement that same plan with contractors for less. Why deal with the union?
