Best of Luck to All the CWA Workers and to the EWA people. This is a sad day.

I know there is a lot of animosity between union and management on this site. Personally, I think the conduct from both sides has been reprehensible. As others have said, the strike has brought out the worst in everyone.

With that said, it feels now like Hiroshima the day after the bomb was dropped -- utter destruction. The lives of the people in the union are now changed for a very long time, and their finances may never recover. I feel bad for those who were lead down this road by the CWA and didn't realize what they were getting into.

I also feel bad for those EWA people who went into this a with a great attitude and expected (like we all did) that this was something they would be doing for two or possibly three weeks. I think they and everyone else expected them to be home by now. Now it appears they'll be where they are for the foreseeable future. I don't think anyone wants to do someone else's job for as long as they're going to have to, not knowing what they will be returning to or when they'll be returning to it.

After seeing the email today it's pretty clear that life has changed permanently at Verizon and for the 39,000 people on strike. It really feels like a funeral atmopshere.

Best of luck to the union people who are now on their own for good. And best of luck to the EWA people who are being forced to do the type of work that they didn't intend to.

OK .... I missed the email I guess. What did it say?

Uninformed. We are blue collar workers. We work harder in one hour of our regular day than 99% of people behind a desk. Hitting keys in a computer and reading is not HARD work.

The EWA and CWA people are all SOL. The CWA are for all practical purposes unemployed. The EWA are living a life of complete hell until they can get back to their normal lives.

Everyone who is miserable right now can thank the union. This is the fault of the union 110%.

This is why companies are so against unionization and hiring people that have been in unions. Bad attitude, bad work ethic, bad everything.

Blah, blah, blah with this email nonsense. If it were that easy to fire the union workforce it would have happened a long time ago. These people posting are probably from India just hoping and praying that these jobs come to them. It really sucks to have to sh-- in the same water you bathe in so they are just looking for their up and comings. Don't listen to these fools! Just google about labor law, impasse, last, best, final offer and read and educate yourselves. This isn't over by a long shot. Stay strong

To the previous poster, it really sucks coming here and having to adapt your regimen. It's impossible to have much more of a life than work, workout, grab takeout (gotta find a healthy option) and then making sure you have a good night of sleep

I feel bad for the EWAers because some of them are living in a hotel 1000 miles from home. That's bad enough when it's for a one week business trip.

But being away for a month is a different story, and being away for what could be six months (before the replacement employees are hired and put into position) is down right scary. The money is great no doubt, but being away from your regular habitat, family, friends, routine, etc can be pretty rough.

For me, I'm very into fitness and have an aggressive workout regimen every morning before work; If I had to change that for six months it could damage whatever results I've worked for the past 10 years. I know that's a minor thing to most people, but for the people having to do EWA it's a big lifestyle change.

Why do you feel bad for the EWA people? They've made thousands in exchange for their troubles. They will make thousands more. When they are again able to go on vacation, they can actually afford to go on one. Bonus payouts may be lower, but then again the company hasn't been paying 40,000 people so things could actually be better when all is considered. As for the strikers, yeah it stinks to be them right now. The best they can do is suck it up and come back.
