Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

EWA Tough Guys: You haven't even completed 3 weeks yet.

Everyone in the Union where I work has already worked 12 hour days 7 days a week and we have done it longer than you EWA. The first two weeks are easy. Talk to us in another three weeks. Yes, you will be making insane money, but you will also be paying insane taxes and worst of all... you will BE INSANE. Take it from someone who knows. Space madness begins around week 4.

Yeah all these scab low lives that the company hired off the street are going to come here and do a wonderful job. Really!?! What are you smoking ?

They are going to hire the same loosers that fairpoint hired. Remember the guy that stole a customers car or broke in his house. ?

So go ahead Verizon , hire these desperate losers. Anyone worth anything already has a job. Anyone worth anything would never accept a strike breakers job.

Actually 12 hour days wont be happening much longer. Youre being replaced, as soon as the new hires are up to speed we'll be back to normal hours.

I think one of the reasons the union is striking is because they don't want the company using GPS devices to track them.

You can't take naps and 2 hour lunches if the company tracks you, so the union strikes over it. God forbid the company should use the technology that it sells to makes sure employees that have a reputation for being lazy are doing their job.

@idc "Sent back to your normal jobs" You've already proven they can get along just fine without you. There will be no job for you when you get back. You should worry more about your family getting along just fine without you.

Y'all "work" 12 hour days, seven days a week, yet your trucks are stationed at one install/repair place for hours. With this philosophy: try to bust assand with shoddy work, get a 3 hour job done in 30 minutes. Knowing that your supervisor is expecting you to be at that location for 3 hours, and has a GPS on the truck. Get back in the truck and nap for two 1/2 hours. Why the hell do you think customers always wonder as to why the truck is still in front of their house hours after the job was completed? 12 hour days, my ass More like 12 hour days alway from the house, 2 hrs of work.

Unfortunately...or fortunately if I take your advice...we have to take a day every 2 weeks...w very week is encouraged. After non-vz employee contractors start coming into the fold en masse starting 5/9 we are going to be cut down initially to 10 hr days, and will be sent back to our normal jobs as they roll in the contractor replacements, but I'm hoping to ride the gravy train for a couple of months hopefully

It's easy when you sleep in your truck. Union gets accused of it. But, I've seen plenty of pics of EWAers actually doing it.

Nah, not really. There are 10000 more EWAers that are just getting assignments next week. Plus, the permanent replacements that are starting to be hired.

Apparently the plan is to have more EWAers to relieve the ones out there now, and by August have the permanent replacements in position to replace the union workers who have quit their jobs.

It's a lot of work and will be tough for a couple of months, but in a few months the EWAers will be back to BAU and the union will be history. No more strikes ever going forward.
