The company still has everything -- too much in fact. They have a wireline network that is old technology and a lazy union workforce. For obvious reasons they are trying to get rid of it.
The part of the company that makes up 97% of the net income is the wireless unit which has America's largest and most reliable network. That is the part of the company that provides value.
The wireline company is mired by decreasing revenues but stuck with costs that are too high due to a highly overpaid and lazy workforce supporting the consumer side of the business.

I don't get it. This company had everything. They have the most interconnected network in the west and internationally (which they want to sell off). The are the dominant provider in the highest population density areas of US. I can only conclude that it is under the control of vultures who want to loot it.
