When it comes down to it, Verizon is going to do what it wants, Union or not. These stories of keeping a building open for 5-6 union employees is not cost effective and anyone with half a business sense knows that. Verizon has zero reasons to budge on this. Laugh at the EWA workers all you want but the longer you hold out, the better they get at your jobs.....then training those new contractors along with the smart union scabs will be so much easier.
On top of that, your salary to answer phone calls (Roughly in the neighborhood of $70,000) is unheard of. If Verizon locks the union members out I guarantee you there is no plan B that will pay you as much as Verizon did especially since most of those call center workers have no degrees. A standard non-union call center representative makes $13-$15 an hour....... expect that when you go looking for your new non-union job.
Is this company perfect......hell no. No company is perfect, Lowell and the executives are over compensated and yes the company could pay a little better on the non-Union side but it is a pretty damn good company besides that.
The sooner you guys realize there are no job guarantees in this scenario and just go back to work......the happier us EWA'ers will be to go home and get back to our normal job.
