Ewa here. Absolutely not happening. This is taking a toll on my health. The company is also obfuscating our time off, doing the run around, constantly changing policies. Reading crowdaround there is no shortage of cheerleading ewa on this whole fiasco, but when you click on the names most of the people are senior managers, directors and above. Either brownnosing or told to create a cult mentality.

It was told to book for the entire month of May here in NJ
@AOU.......Written like a true / experienced EWAer - 2011(?)
Yes strike will be over when they lock you out and resign you all. Think about it. Your union buddies in VA all crossed. CWA has lost this one just like 2011.
Now Union is expecting something to happen after the annual meeting which is on May 5th. Therefore, they announced there will be a nation wide vally called National Day of Action at the same day. They are putting as much pressure as they can. But, if everything goes as usual after the meeting, the Union will be truly f---ed.
bcp -- I wish I could believe that.
It will all be over soon
Team,
When the strike began on April 13, EWA employees who require travel were asked to book three weeks out. We’re approaching 21 days and for many of you it is now time to extend or update your reservations.
Hotel Reservations.
Go ahead and extend your stay for an additional 21 days.
Keep in mind, this is a busy time of year for college graduations and other spring activities and hotels may not be able to extend your reservation.
In these situations, you should pre-pay for the extension or provide a non-refundable deposit. Another option is to move to another hotel that is further away. This is not ideal, but may be required.
Additionally, some of you may be taking approved time off. If this is only for a couple of days, you should retain your hotel accommodations even during your time away. This is important because some areas have a shortage of hotel rooms.
Airline Reservations.
If you haven’t traveled home yet and have upcoming approved time off, you’ll likely need to change the second leg of the round-trip, non-refundable ticket you booked to get to your EWA. You will incur an airline imposed change fee, which we will pay.
When booking your flight to return to your EWA, you should, once again, purchase a round-trip, non-refundable ticket with a return of 21 days later.
If you have questions about booking travel, please refer to the EWA handbook (Wireline | Wireless).
You can also email verizontravel@verizon.com or contact American Express if you’re having trouble booking reservations online via ERP.
Thank you.
Nope we were told to make non-refunable tickets. Company can last you out. CWA HAS LOST ANOTHER ONE, GREAT UNION.
This is not good ...for anybody EWA or Union ..EWAers, you are justifying why you are NOT Essential (aka Not Needed) at your normal job...you can be gone over a month with no issues? You have a RIF target on your back when your return. Any EWA old timer knows the Union can Easily makeup for financial losses with mandatory overtime including 6 day work weeks (to cleanup EWA mistakes) when they return
May is going to be a LOOONNNNGGG Month. Happy Memorial Day.
The company isn't budging an inch. They meant final, which means they will draw this out until strikers are having to declare bankruptcy. This is ugly, ugly. For EWAs, for union employees, for everyone.
Those are not hard bookings, they are booking that can be canceled at any time. It's just a precaution.
Check your email...Vz's not budging and we were asked to extend stays out 3 weeks. By that point, some of the relief should be starting up as we move towards the 2 weeks on/2 weeks BAU. This will be drawn out until employees not working are in financial ruin. We know who has the deepest pockets here. Sadly, it probably doesn't really matter if a large percentage of customers leave during this event because it just adds weight with Wall St. why the business can't support the cost structure anymore. Revenue losses = more cuts in expenses. Like it or not that's reality. Short of some miraculous government intervention or agreement for Federal mediation, there is no victory for anyone but Vz if this goes on for a long time.
Yes it is true. they were told to book an additional 21 days. Not made up
No, the EWAs aren't told to book anything that far out even if leadership feels like it will take that long.
Why do people keep coming on here making things up?
All bookings can be canceled the day of.
