Thousands of Verizon IBEW union members in New Jersey on strike also

Cannot get unemployment in New Jersey, nothing. No union strike fund, nothing. No offer by the union to help with medical, nothing.

Not true. There were members that got unemployment checks.

"FYI : If you get any unemployment in NJ you will pay it back, found that out from last strike. "

Wait what? The previous strike only lasted for two weeks and no one was able to collect anything when it comes to the unemployment benefits. The same holds true for the one in 2000.

Listen, I'm just as upset I'm not working, but if it wasn't for the Union we wouldn't have had the benefits we have had up until now. I'm not a Union guy by any means, but realize what they have done. As for the Unemeployment, so what, if it gets you and your family by, it's easier to pay it back while you're getting paid.

FYI : If you get any unemployment in NJ you will pay it back, found that out from last strike. Other insurance sounds great, should I get insurance of get food or pay the mortgage or pay the car notes, etc.?

FYI, most of the NJ people seem to have gotten their unemployment accepted. Whether or not they actually get anything is to be determined. I wasn't going to file, honestly, because the union told me to, until I heard everyone was getting accepted. I filed, but do not know if it was accepted.

And another thing, shop around for insurance. You can get some pretty decent coverage for much less than COBRA.

There's no need for Über drivers in rural New Jersey

@ypj, the big lie, "Uber drivers make good money." Sure, after out of pocket expenses, wear & tear on their automobile, they're pulling down about $8.00/hr.

I have a job. Have to drive 25 miles to picket duty or get fined by the union.

You really need to drive during surge time if you want to make any money with uber. Try weekends from 9 pm to 2 am.

Uber drivers make good money, and you can keep doing it even after the strike is over. Just drive when you feel like it at your own discretion.

Get a job to help subsidize your income. Many are doing that.
