Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam said in a blog post that wire-line revenues accounted for just under 30 percent of Verizon's revenues in 2015 but only about 7 percent of its operating income, or profits.
The company earned $33.1 billion in operating income last year, according to its regulatory filing. Wireless revenue in 2015 was $91.7 billion, while wire-line revenue amounted to $37.7 billion.
So, the landline is pulling in about 2.5 billion in profits a year. Not, so bad for a dying industry. Could probably double that amount with a competent management team. Even, with a unionized workforce.
The wireless side is pulling in north of 30 billion a year!!!!! And there would be several ways to look at that. Are we being charged to much for our cell phone bills??? Absolutely!! Where are these exorbitant profits going??? The upoer management is ridiculously over compensated, but hey thats my opinion. Theow these a couple million a year, OK, thats life in the big time. Next, should there be more regulation on the wireless side??? Especially, in terms of pricing. The big 2 seem to be colluding together to set prices. I mean come on, they dont really even try to compete against each other.
