Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

For those that don't recall...

VZ had buyers lined up last year for lots of parts of the business. They were breaking it apart, keeping wireless, and long term leasing back the network from one of the buyers to maintain the wireless network. I was told that the theory was technology would change during the lease back period, thus minimizing the risk over the say 30yr period before that buyer could raise the price we payed them at sale. They even had "names" tied to each sell off. In fact, the Terremark assest selloff name was even mentioned on a quarterly all-hands call about this time last year by Lowell in the Q&A session....he briefly confirmed the project but said he could not comment, and said we always are looking to buy and sell assets if it makes sense. I was told the asset sell-off was on-hold due to the Union mess, but once locked down, it would gain steam again to happen. This is coming from a band 4.

I wish they would sell, a company that wants to be in this business would be nice.
