Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Those damn unions have laws on there side!!! Why don't they just quit already!!! Stay strong union!!!

This "last, best and final offer" doesn't mean they can just apply it next week. Luckily unions in the past have fought for the rights we have now. It's time for us to fight. Trust what the union is doing. They know what they are doing. This IS NOT OVER!!!

  1. Preventing impasse.

A. Fact Finding

Under PERA an impasse is prevented when a request for Fact Finding is made with the Commission. The employer may not unilaterally impose its last and best offer until fact finding is complete and the parties have had an opportunity to bargain over the report of the fact finder for a period of 60 days.

B. Information Requests

An employer is required to furnish, on demand, factual information concerning issues in bargaining or in a grievance proceeding. The duty to supply this information is part of the duty to bargain in good faith. The union, acting in good faith, may forestall impasse by making information requests to better understand the employer's final position. The information provides may lead to proposals by the union that will start bargaining and forestall impasse.

You do know, right, that VZ sold the towers to American Tower in 2015 and leases them back?

Without wireline servicing the headend towers, wireless doesn't work, idiot. Also, Fios has the potential of surpassing wireless profits if the company invested more money to roll it out to more areas.

The union doesn't have the upper hand because Verizon doesn't care about the wireline business. They don't want to be in the wireline business and it doesn't contribute much to their bottom line. That gives Verizon pretty much ALL the leverage because in their view their business will be just fine with or without you.

Verizon has all the leverage because they just don't care about wireline, period.

Watch out for the health care.

The company ignores Dr.'s restrictions and threatens transfers to reporting location very distant from current reporting location if you try to follow medical advice and work restrictions and limitations from AMA certified specialists .

I for one think the Union has the upper hand. Prior to going on strike, the contract the company put out was their last and final offer, then they did it again just recently being on strike and they changed it just a little bit to benefit the Union side but it still didn't go far enough...the company isn't done tweaking what they have to offer, don't believe it if they say it's their last and final offer. It can and will change at any time.

So what. Useless post. I thought unions don't believe the impasse and lockout is coming. Just curious.

Yep, don't worry, the union can drag your unemployment on much longer if they want. The longer they stall the less reason the company has to make any changes to their last offer since that would just restart the clock.

Supervisor to EWA: "no, you can't splice fiber with jizz."

EWA: " I guess I'll just swallow it then. Thanks loads, Boss"

EWA: "by the way, is my butt set for what I hope it's for?"

But the union is not acting in good faith. They're vandalizing private property and video is coming out soon to prove it. Solidarity in crime!!!!
