For what it's worth - Management Uverse & DTV org structure is only a key first step. A "business strategy" round table meeting today included the global real estate review for the next 24 months Optimal 2018 target planning. The business strategy discussed is pending the current reorganization plans and right sizing to meeting financial targets. There is a strong push to reduce CA headcount asap (due to high costs to T.) The Senior Cabinet/ELT does not favor the CA business climate and is making all sorts of plans to pull retained leaders over time to headquarters (A-E levels, and based on a incremental relocation and spread over the next 48 months). The majority of the key leadership will eventually be in Dallas, Failure to agree to relocation is termination. That's baked into the plans. 24 month rotations also discussed. At first it may appear El Segundo will be the "entertainment hub", but this is smoke and mirrors. The real end organization will be housed in Dallas & Atlanta (considered the key anchor mobility hub). Mobility Marketing and Gigapower will be the key growth areas. Less emphasis on either DTV or UV over time as new product lines emerge. Greater emphasis on new products and partners. The amount of CA bashing was spectacular. Again, CA is not a favored business climate, they do not favor the political leadership that make it hard on T to do business. It is also not favored by external analysts, regulators, lawyers, and law and government affairs groups due to a multitude of issues. They also do not want a larger headcount presence in the same state as Google. Business politics was discussed in depth, but they are extremely serious about getting out of CA. Again, Texas and Georgia will be the key hubs. All management will eventually be centralized in Dallas with Atlanta as the anchor. In order to not move to fast to soon incremental steps will be taken, but discreet in nature. HR & Legal approved the next 24 month plan. It will go to the BOD for review. But do worry - after this initiative there will be another likely layoff targeted for Q4 or Q1-17. Bottomlilne the ELT, Consultants, and business lobbyist favor business climate in TX and GA over CA and some of the remarks about the people (talent and leadership) in CA was not very flattering or positive (from an HR perspective). The ELT voted and agreed Dallas should be the hub center, but was concerned about the facilities in El Segundo, The goal is to have key product and marketing teams in Dallas or Atlanta (not El Segundo long term.) The also voted on continued support for sustaining the Workforce 2020 plans. Also some may be interested to know NJ will be kept as the NE hub (place to work out of) and the Executive team told corporate real estate and BU heads to develop a tangible plan to get the DTV people out of NYC (Rock Center) and any other high rent areas, but more importantly a push to move all of them to Dallas or NJ burbs. ELT sees no reason consumer teams need to be in NYC. Any creative agency's need to relocate and set up shop close to the customer and T is the customer. They will retain business markets office space in lower Manhattan. Out of the the meeting there is now a complete list of all real estate negotiations deals in progress, and pending closures (as well as some new office openings). This meeting was focused on US, not EU or Latin America holdings. That's Just a few soundbites. Not sure this is of any interest to anyone. TIAMU

Not saying you're wrong, maybe your source was more in the know, but I recently heard news to the contrary. That there will be 5 primary cities for T. All non-operations positions (i.e. Not critical that you're in the specific market) will ultimately be in one of those 5 cities. They are Dallas, Atlanta, El Segundo, Englewood, CO, and one other I can't remember now, maybe Bedminster.
Is It really a real? I mean i dont see why cant they do it, but come on, closing down el segundo is a quiet big thing, anyway, sometimes its good to jump off ship rather than waiting till last min and to avoid, could have, would have should have
agreed, they demanded training to have people "keep up with the future" is just a way to drop people who don't keep up. Once the ones who miss are gone then another reason will be used.

The executives have no interest in "top talent" because it is expensive. The exodus from California started well over a decade ago.
The crown jewel of our efforts to become a "software" company is this network orchestrator called ECOMP. Much of it is being written by developers from outsource companies. That tells you how much the company values technology.

You're right, StraightTalk. EL Segundo will be closed. All ex-DTV management will be fired and only a few key people will be offered relocation package. The rest, you know, will be discarded.
Where can we see or hear (rumor or not) of the offices closing? Rumors have a way of being reality.
