Director and above are playing us all for fools. I really wish managers could unionize, they get screwed constantly and sh-- flows downhill.

I was one of the thousands of wireless employees off payroll December 2015. I can now tell you from a T Mobile perspective, they do not have nearly as much support staff as Verizon does. Maybe an indication of more to come?

2Q unlikely since 30 days notice (on 2nd Thursday in pay period?) typically given, however lists/rankings of "candidates" are kept up to date or can be readily generated. If 2Q numbers are off enough that slashing salary/expense in effort to improve margins for the street, 3Q RIF might be possible - and 4Q has been used before (Happy Holidays, now get out!).
Keep an eye out for severance charge reserves when announce Q2 earnings. That usually means they are planning for a lot of housecleaning in the near future. Otherwise, don't be surprised by the usual stealthy RIFs where all of a sudden a valued colleague starts coming to the office less and less, or suddenly advises of retirement. The Sr Leadership should retire after all the thankless work they dumped on EWAs. Can someone really say that Straton and Reede did a good job? They were at this for over a year, getting only minor concessions. Asking Professionals to assume these low level vocational assignments with only cursory training is absurd. Even with the training, the company took short cuts to save money, while putting employees at risk. In the field, certain garages were advising FiOS techs that if they did not agree to get certified to use a bucket truck (1 hour certification), they would get shipped elsewhere. No one should be operating those vehicles without extensive driver training and safety certification. It's all slap in the face and these leaders are not leaders at all.

No, but if they want it to be closed out in Q2, it will be very soon.
