It had my whole crew crying in laughter at how clueless they were. What a charade. All we've been doing since we came back is fixing sh-- they screwed up. They spent 2 days on a MDU trouble claiming sabotage. ...IT WAS THE F---ING BREAKER!

We did the best we could. Customers actually told us they got better service during the strike than they did previously. Also said we treated them with more respect. It was definitely a challenge to those of us who had never done that type of work before. I'm sure when the real techs first started, they did about as good as we did. Hats off to the real techs. We found a new appreciation for what you do. Let's all now try to show respect to each other as people just doing the best we can. The agreement was a win for both sides. We're all back to work!

I had to laugh when I saw tickets tagged climbing team.. if you are a tech don't you have to be able to climb a pole? Good job? There are so many repeaters in the load. Customers not called to say tech not coming, but they still were taking install orders and then jepping them. Scabs taking tools , writing disgusting things in Sac boxes , damaging equipment. You don't know anything. A pole wouldn't normally be 60ft, but if the pole is next to an overpass, it has to be higher so it has clearance not only over the road, but over the elevated road. Geesh. Did you even train with hooks? And some other moron said that a bucket truck is the answer to not knowing how to carry and use a ladder. What? Guess he never located a trouble to a rats nest in the right of way.
Glad you took the time to google splicing. So no, you never spliced pulp in a manhole. Hope you don't expect to see that color code with paper. You never hacked open led. And cutting out a bad 4 way splice is a lot more in depth than knowing the colors.. And yes, I've hooked a 60 ft pole and yes telco was at least 45ft up. You sound like the type of person who would move that job back on your list, then turn it back because it was "too late" to finish. Glad you scabs are done f*cking sh!t up.
Ohhhh, splice a 600 cable, again its color coded....idiot proofed....i take the red band and the blue whit pair, i find the matching red band blue white pair and splice it, etc, etc...move onto the the green band, then the brown band...yawn......i might even have to tape a pair of wires that show copper.....i might even have to board it, which means tone out out a pai...ohhhhh, real hi tech stuff here....60 ft pole next to an overpas? huh?....telco doesnt go 60 ft up, lol...by an overpass,huh? does that make it it more technical?...get over yourself!
You are a moron. You think that because you plugged into an existing terminal, you did the whole job a tech does? Try to be a copper splicer. Try cutting out a bad buried 4 way with a 900 and two 600's. Ever spliced pulp? Ever tried to locate on a trouble in the only pair left in a cable, and you locate it to a 60ft pole next to an overpass? Ever had to hack into lead? You don't know SH!T.
Nothing was done in engineering. A bunch of emails went back and forth, but no drawing, no permits went out...NOTHING>
Time to update all those spread sheets the micro managers want updated.

your right, you cant make this stuff up....it really is this easy....color coded, numbered 1 to 300 ports....your install tells you to plug # 3 to # 201......you will find it on port 3 in front of the house....plug your drop wire into port 3, now, plug the other end of dw into the ont.....plug the battery in, did the green light come on?....ok, now, follow the color code ...green to green...red to red.....run your usb and have the csr sign the paper.....now, if someone has a problem with a ladder, thats a physical problem....maybe get a bucket truck.....problem solved....what am i missing...oh, not working.....put a tone or buzzer on wire and move it to another pair of wires on your 4 pair wire......am i missing something?
I've said it before, but it bears repeating. I did the very best I could do, and I did it with pride. I never took shortcuts, and never quit til I figured it out. I'm proud of stepping up to do the job, and I'll always be grateful to have had the experience. But, I have a Masters in Business, not in Engineering. If anyone thinks the job is easy, then they've never done it!! I gained so much respect for the jobs that the techs do, and in the environment in which they have to do it. Frankly, I know there were times I looked like a friggin monkey standing there not knowing whether to scratch my head or my balls. So to the union employees out there doing it everyday, thank you! I wish some of you had been a little nicer and not talked about my wife and daughter, but I also know that's just part of the environment. But my hats off to you, and to the knowledge, skill, and expertise you have. I'm very happy to give the job back and come home and still have all 21 of my appendages in tact lol. Much respect!
My supervisor was a tech just a few years back, so he knows the job. The stories he told us about the replacement guys, wow. I could post some stuff but nobody would believe it.

Fair enough. I actually felt bad for SOME of the good Verizon employeed managers. This was more about the executives and spokespeople claiming that everything was fine and people were going to step right in and it would be seamless. They are the intended button of the joke.
I said it from the start that the company would give in because of the techs. Any monkey can answer a call. It takes years of on the job training to do the job of a tech. I was inside taking calls and was moved outside. That job is tough and complicated. You have to master it and mistakes will happen but it can't be taught in a class. Glad it's over and we are out of danger.
Another complaining that he had to load too much "just in case stuff". And one talking about how poorly the fibers are labeled and he spent HOURS trying to locate his fiber...you can't make this stuff up!
One of them expressed how frustrating it was that at least twice a day he was loaded with a job and when he got there he had to turn it back to the pole climbing team....LMAO
