Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Let's explore the raises.

The way it appears to me is 3 percent immediately going back to August 2015 retro applied to all wages and ot since then. Year 1. Then 2.5 percent raise in 2 months August 2016. Year 2. Then 2.5 in August 2017. Year 3. Final year raise applied August 2018 until expiration of contract in August 2019. Year 4.

That's 10.5 percent over 4 years with compounding! It comes out to something around 11 percent actual.

Take tta/field tech rate in nyc. Now 42.73 to 44.01 to 45.11 to 46.24 to 47.39 final year. That's 10.9 percent with compounding.

I predict we, for some unknown reason (where's that eye roll emoji?), we suddenly capitulate and return to work the day before unemployment kicks in. Oh, and us paying for medical while working and in retirement was a done deal even before we walked?

At TTA pay, I estimate roughly $2000-$3500 additional loss in wages. Higher number with 15 hours OT factored in. This on top of the $10,000 strike give back. For that we get what essentially is a 3 year deal with higher health deductibles, higher prescriptions costs and less choice. I haven't figure it all out yet but I can see the entire 10.9 percent increase being completely eaten up by the give back and higher health care cost for a net zero sum gain. In fact I can see the pay raise being paid for up front!

They did this so we went without a raise the last 10 months and so in 8/19 they can say no raise because we just got one. We've been out played once again...

We don't have to worry about the hours from August 1, 2015. The 3% doesn't go into effect until the first Sunday after ratification. No retro.

How the hell can we confirm the increased correct pay from all the hours worked, OT, differential, and others dating back to August 1 2015?

They can't get my pay right from week to week, let alone almost one years worth of hours. And, have you ever noticed that their pay "mistakes" are NEVER...and i mean NEVER like in 100% of the time in YOUR favor.

I can guarantee you this... your pay will be robbed again by the Billion dollar profit Verizon. Guaranteed!

Right the 3% starts the Sunday after we ratify. The 2.5% raises are on the anniversary of ratification. So the last raise will be roughly mid-June to mid-August of 2019. Remember that medical costs usually increase at the first of the year.

@DUA you better read the contract again. Its %3.0 at ratification, %2.5 there after in 2017, 2018 and 2019. I hope everyone isn't expecting a total of %5.5 in Aug 2016. That's not happening. The contract isn't written that way. So we stiffed out of raise.

although the 3 percent is applied and then this august another 2.5 is applied, so we do end up with 5.5 by this august, however no retro. Retro would be good spoils to reap, since the war was lost.

No retro is correct. First 3% is upon ratification or effective date. Say June. Then 2.5 % anniversary raises in June of 2017, June 2018, and final in June 2019 for a two month period when contract expires in August. The compounding is correct at 10.9 % over the contract.
