Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Stop lying to yourselves...

Do you really think you won anything that the company wasn't already ready to give up?

That's why they set "The Final Offer." Raise the bar so high that it looks good when it comes down.

The only real thing you won, was a stay of execution.

Hell, you're coming back to work before you've even ratified the contract!

Verizon wanted a contact in place only to make wireline attractive to potential buyers. Remember that in 3.5 years when y'all start negotiating your new contract with CenturyLink.

Enjoy this weekend. It'll be the last you see for the rest of the summer. Enjoy working 6/12s into the fall. Who planned this strike for you guys? I'd be firing them.

I do thank you for providing me and my family the extra cash that we'll use on our summer vacations. I'd say I'd be thinking of you while enjoying them, but I'd be lying.

Whoever said that y'all got played in previous threads before was right.

BTW, how much of that $400 million was distributed? Past history tells me that the Unions hardly ever dip into that slush fund.

I hear Asshat Man is starting a news paper.

He is going to call it "The Asshat Man Journal".

Curious what the deal is; company seemed adamant about pushing for contentious terms in the LBFO and prepared to accept negative press and blame strike for any 2Q performance hit - so what movement by the union bargainers (one presumes) compelled them to walk it back? Paying portion of health care?

"Can you say LTSD? You may not work 6/12s every week, but you will be working them at least every other week."

The last time we've seen one of those was after Sandy. The company doesn't even attempt to get away with that line of crap in my neck of the woods.

"Have the forced OT rules been changed in the new contract? If not, your math is severely off."

"I've been with the company for 22 years and can't believe we got taken so badly with this contract. It benefits everyone except the union employees"

Where exactly have you seen the contract in its entirety?

OP, you nailed it. I've been with the company for 22 years and can't believe we got taken so badly with this contract. It benefits everyone except the union employees, and they are presenting it to us like we should be happy. We are pawns.

LOL. You could've easily said BT or DT instead. Century Link doesn't have a pot to piss in, let alone shell out something along the lines of $40-50B for the East Coast.

"BTW, how much of that $400 million was distributed? "

My rough and fairly conservative estimate is $48M. 30K CWA members x $1600 each.

"By the way, it is my business, because I promise there'll be a layoff sometime in August... "

Now that's a good one. As in really good one. One moment you're saying that we'll be working 72-hours weeks until the end of the summer, and then you state that there will be layoffs in August. I don't know what you're smoking/drinking, but want none of it. In truth, it might just be the heat getting to you. Grab a cold one and chill out for a bit. You're hallucinating.

By the way, it is my business, because I promise there'll be a layoff sometime in August... gotta boost those profits somehow.

There's no winners on either side off this.

I work wireline just like you, and my job is in the same boat yours is in.

My other stuff was just in response to all the cheerleading going on on this board.

Always good for some chuckles.

I'm trying to figure out why you care. You are either a scab or an internet troll. Either way it's NOYB so go away!

Find another board, you're a joke. I read your post and in my head it sounds like, blah, blah, blah, blah. We win you lose, because you're a loser, not my fault.
