Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

So I guess we'll see a continuation of the same QARs and hostile, predatory work environment?

"Management tends to like hard workers who aren't a constant source of problems."

While this may very well hold true in its own right, what we were seeing is management suing the company because of these illegal practices in NJ, and 2nd levels getting demoted and transferred for their failure to come up with the required number of suspensions in NY...

Go back to sleep, sweet troll, and don't bother waking up.

@ayq: If they want you gone there is probably a reason. Maybe if you started working hard and quit trying to justify doing the bare minimum while demanding premium benefits and job security they might start wanting you around.

Management tends to like hard workers who aren't a constant source of problems.

The beatings will continue until morale improves. Company credo circa 2000. I agree w posts here encouraging communication through texts or company email. I do that as much as possible, and it has saved me a few times. Remember, these guys want us gone and will stoop to any level to do it. Most are pathological liars, w no morals. There's no other Fortune 500 company that would hire any of them.

Qars will be called something else. Corporate bullying and harassment needs to be address in the same manner and terms as the company did with our personal life. They brought in counselors to address our behavior at home with our spouses, children and yes, even our pets. When I ask the counselor about work lace behavior and bullying he said "Verizon didn't want them to address it". There you have it folks.

Video record everything. Regardless of "codes". It wasn't meant to protect companies from being caught harassing employees. It is well document in law.

Communicated via company email only. Verizon must maintain and store emails by law so start the record keeping process when you go back. Establish a track record of behavior of management towards you. Failures to reply, deleting unread mail or anything short of a business appropriate response is a red flag. Also CC outside email account just in case.

Remember, you are dealing with pure simpletons. Managers that aren't qualified to work in the fast food industry.

If QARs weren't gone from the last/best/final offer then they aren't gone now.

QARs and that hostile predatory environment will continue in order to force people to take the EISP. Book it.

"Hell yeah, would have stayed out longer for that, better language on forced/required OT and for a 5th year on that contract. "

As would I. No questions asked. Oh well...

" and the loud-mouth tough-guys on the picket line last week will be the first to kiss their bosses arse, work through their lunch to get better numbers and miraculously continue to always avoid any QAR interrogation"

LOL. So true. Are we talking about the same people? Probably not, unfortunately. Every shop has its own supply of lowlifes.

"QARs will most likely stay (or continue with another name or process) "

There is one scenario in which getting rid of these would make perfect sense...maybe I'm taking this too far but will say it anyway...

What if we are really getting sold off to Frontier? VZ will get the quota of employees needed to leave by EIPPs, no questions asked. Stopping QARs would enable our fearless leaders on the union side to claim that was another victory on their part, and hey, there's stuff that you'll simply have to swallow now since we've gotten rid of those evil QARs for you.

Verizon wouldn't care anymore at that point in the game. And Frontier has no similar practice in place, that I know for a fact.

Just a thought...call me crazy if you will, it won't be the first time...

QARs will most likely stay (or continue with another name or process) and the loud-mouth tough-guys on the picket line last week will be the first to kiss their bosses arse, work through their lunch to get better numbers and miraculously continue to always avoid any QAR interrogation. Some things will never change.

"That work environment was part of why it was so easy to stay out for so long and would have continued to stay out, from a non-financial standpoint at least."

QFT.

I, for one, would've preferred to have stayed out longer and come back knowing exactly what we're going to be facing after reading the contract...

I have a feeling they won't go away. Same exact environment. The war on the workers will probably continue as a concession to this contract.

That work environment was part of why it was so easy to stay out for so long and would have continued to stay out, from a non-financial standpoint at least.

We shall see.

I won't hold my breath

"I gotta see it to believe it."

I couldn't agree more.

"Where are you getting this info that QARs are gone?"

QARs were brought up as an issue on the local level(s) during the bargaining process. I've heard from two completely different sources that we'll see no more of them.

As I've stated before, it won't take long for us to find out what the truth is...

I gotta see it to believe it.

Speaking of QARs, they really should QAR the scab force on their way out and hand out some management suspensions in lieu of their eventual RIFs. VZ can save some money in not paying their salaries as well.

Egregiously working unsafely, stopping for coffee, food, shopping during work hours, leaving the garage in the morning hours after arriving, as we have an 18 minute departure rule in my region.

After all, VZ is such a fair company. Surely they will be consistent in these last days leading up until Wednesday, June 1, 2016.

"QAR's are gone"

That's what I've been told from two different sources as well. Won't take long to find out what the truth is. At all.
