Verizon went 45 days without somebody doing your normal job. There is no way the company could have survived without somebody (You) doing OUR job. Don't worry that we lost money, we WILL get a lot back by working plenty of OT to cleanup the mess you are leaving. How will the OT be paid for? By RIFing YOU ,

EWA - Emergency Work Assignment - In a state of a emergency we are always working 12 hours mandatory. Even if we were just sweeping floors we would get OT. Do Not expect to be showered with OT especially if you are working on copper. We had 5% of the normal workforce to cover the work anyone with any sense would know why we worked OT. Now bring everyone back and the OT is shutdown.

Who was bragging about it? Personally, I want no part of it. I'm good with 40hrs. Always have been.
Will we be forced? Most likely. Are there ways to avoid it if one is really not up for it? Of course there are.
Let's see what the contract brings first...and how the management goes about enforcing it.

I'm hearing they can only declare their "service emergency" 10 weeks a year. No more than 6 days/week. Also the qar's are gone.

After 7 weeks of strike and our work getting done by "highly trained" replacement workers, there will be more OT than we'll be able to handle. Which is one of the things that started this strike to begin with. Let's see how that part gets handled.

They do want us gone, but a large part of the wireline segment is still regulated and they can't simply walk away from that fact, as much as they would love to.
That's not true at all. While EWA was working union jobs there were EWA working their own jobs and covering for those out by working OT . Those jobs were being worked by colleagues putting in major OT also. It's absolutely not true.
What if there is no OT? As well, keep in mind the company could care less what the wireline side lost. They want us gone anyway.
